I could still see a CBO if the cap stays flat, teams were expecting the cap to rise to $84M... and you can't really fault them.

The NHL needs to start setting the cap at least one year ahead so teams know what they can expect for the next season.

they were told about the 84M March 4th, after the deadline, they can easily rescind that

The cap has risen an average of $2.867M / yr since the last lockout (highest was $4.7M lowest was $1.6M) ... why would the GM's expect anything else this year? Who figured the season would be cancelled?

I don't want CBO's but I don't see how it would be fair to keep the cap @$81.5M and not help teams out.

cant see the league giving out bail outs for a flat cap, only way i see it was if the cap went down which i also dont see happening

Well let's hope so, my plan to offersheet Sergachev is 100% dependent on the cap being flat with no CBO's.

Exactly. We should have CBO’s.

@harrisonwright19 I have come to agree with you since this discussion.

The way GM's are managing their cap is the issue here not the Cap itself. The only thing guaranteed is the cap is $81.5M right now. A new cap has not been set and if you can't work with the way the cap is built right now then that's your fault.

GM's should not be counting on the cap to increase in order to manage there team, a cap increase should be a bonus.

I 100% agree with you now, I think its BS if greedy GM's get bailed out because they spent cap space that wasn't even given yet.
