Initial Creation Date: Apr. 5, 2020
Published: Apr. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Best young D Corps in the league. Goaltending can be real good, Hogberg looked like a #1 this year and Daccord has the potential to be.

First line - physical dominant line with a mix of speed and great 2 way abilities

2nd line - that’s the line I expect to get the most points and light up the scoresheet

3rd line - Brown gets to play with a speedy winger in Formenton and a 2 way player in White.

4th line - a good energy line with PK abilities

The future looks right, especially if you land those two picks.
Who do you predict with the third first round pick?

I think it depends. I assume in total they will pick a C, a wing and a RHD with their 1st rounders. So in this case, I’d assume it would be a winger. I could see one of Mercer/Nybeck/Amirov/Gunler etc

Ottawa is so set and ready to do a proper rebuild is is scary. Great young pieces in place and in the system and a TONNE of high draft picks on the horizon.

Too bad their owner is such an idiot. I am certain that he will find a way to screw it up and further enrage the wanting and deserving fanbase.

Yeah I don’t see them encountering any issues with money at least until they have to sign their 2020 1sts once their ELCs are up

I doubt the Canes would entertain the idea of the Pesce trade you have suggested. The potential returns on the 1st rounder are simply too far down the road and the rest of the package doesn't really move the needle enough for them to consider it.

I could be wrong but that is just my initial reaction here.

Idk I felt like I gave up a considerable amount. Lassi Thomson was the 19th pick last year and looks to be on pace to be a top 4 D man, (Dumba comparable), Duclair is a decent top 9 forward, who can also be a 2nd liner imo and has improved his defence. And the 1st well is a 1st. It doesn’t need to be Pesce, it could be any other shutdown D

That package would be better served to a team that is in a similar rebuild. Keep Duclair, and offer Thompson and the 1st to the Ducks for Josh Manson. That is a top four defensive defensman that can step right into the lineup and play big minutes with decent term and AAV. I think the Ducks would go for that. (They'd be foolish not to at least consider it).

Just my two cents.

Yeah I guess but finding someone with term is also important for a rebuilding team ready to take a step like Ottawa

No guarantee's the Sens get Drysdale, And you aren't getting Pesce for those pieces.

At worse the Sens pick 5 and 6 and it’s very slim they do cuz that would also mean that Detroit doesn’t pick top 3. There’s a very good chance that Drysdale is available at 4 or 5. If he’s not, then I’d gladly take Stutzle

I have a hard time believing they buy out Zaitsev.
A. he probably has some trade value.
B. it doesn't really save anything. Especially when your rookies probably need time to develop.
Drysdale might end up being a really good player, but he's not ready to make the jump to the NHL yet.
If I were OTT I would sent him to the NCAA where the game is faster than the OHL.
It's really the problem with the CHL in that the players are so young that it dilutes the talent for the top talent of the league. It can stunt the growth so to say. But at the NCAA level they are going against older competition and a lot of draft picks, guys who will be FA from a much smaller pool of teams. So the speed of the game is faster and better play.

The CHL has no way of increasing the competition level for guys who are clearly ready for a next step but aren't NHL quality. It's in some sense killing the league. Which is why the NCAA now has 34% of players coming out of it and growing.
You would think they could make 1 smaller league of guys who have already been drafted, let the teams pick who they wish to add, so the competition level rises and the pace and skill of the game increases.
Because from 18-20 it's kind of like a black hole. We know guys are way more talented than their competition but they can't really grow without better competition.
