They are gonna lose either Murray or Jarry in the expansion. This gets them 3 2nd's and a former 2nd with some player depth. It sucks I know but...

How about Murray for Detroit’s 1st Round pick?

Detroit's not giving up no 2020 2nd round picks or 2021 2nd round picks. Murray would be okay no need for McCann and Johnson and we give up 2020 2nds and 2021 2nd yet have to wait until 2022 to get Pittsburghs 2022 1st round pick. Don't think so.

LMAO No Murray sucked and isn't worth a top 4 pick.

No freaking way Detroit's giving up 3 2nd round picks when they're rebuilding. Especially the #32 pick which is like a late 1st rounder.

Just don't see it happening. DET if they get it would have the potential for 2 #1 C's and they are slightly ahead of the curve of a team like EDM when it comes to depth. DET lacks G depth, solved. DET lacks top 9 depth, solved. DET lacks HEALTHY D depth, solved. They will still have a decent amount of cap depending on what the do with a couple guys but they should be a wild card team after this trade.

Well, a 25 year old goalie who won 2 cups has got to be worth a lot.

If they pushed one of them down to the 2022 year, good for you?

They are getting back a 2022 1st which statistically would be better considering PIT's team age.

Unfortunately, NHL goalies are going the way of NFL running backs. Big money and contracts are not worth it long term for them.

2 cups means nothing, It's what he did this year. And his numbers weren't all that great hardly any better then Jonathon Berniers.

Not for 4 2nd's ( 2 of which were/will be essentially 1st rounders ) and a couple of decent depth guys? This is re-tooling while still competing for the Cup.

I don't know if this is a cup contender. Ryan & Glendening are good defensive forwards for the bottom 6 & that's a decent third paring but the Pens need more fire power up front. Maybe trade for a Marner or Lafreniere or Rakell.

A team that is at the cap max and fighting to make the playoffs? You and the baby Jesus are more optimistic than I am..

The only improvement you made was on The bottom pairing. The goaltending / Forwards are worse than the current pens. Pittsburgh was 1st in the metro not too long ago despite being severely injured. They went on a huge skid. It happens. If hockey does resume this season, Pens will have a legit shot at the cup. If a break would help any team this year it’s the pens. They get to be fully healthy, and regroup from this skid. Meanwhile teams like Philly that were on a tear before this “pause” lost their momentum

They were playing $20 bets with $5 in their pockets. Marino, Tanev, Jarry and JG were playing well above their paychecks. There is reason why the 2020 1st to MIN had a clause on it.

Isn’t that the point of “good signings”? Depth guys step up when others are injured. Pens are still contenders. No need to do anything crazy to this team. Run the Murray/Jarry tandom next season, move out Jugs / Johnson somehow, add some help on the bottom pairing, and maybe add a good face off centre for the 3rd line

”2 cups means nothing”

Cups mean nothing. Tell that to the tens of thousands of players who spent their whole career trying to win the Stanley Cup. Hey Mr. Bettman, listen to this dude! Cups mean nothing!

Can this team afford to lose another starting goalie 2 x in what 3 years? I'm not saying that jarry is the answer, I am saying that Murray has VALUE.

No I would prefer to see Hornqvist go to Seattle if possible. Maybe Murray goes to Seattle as well in a trade for a forward or d. Like a “hey Seattle take Hornqvist and take plate X from Y team and we’ll give you Murray as well for your service.”
