Most likely that would’ve been the case but Marner & Matthews were still on ELCs at the time so they probably would’ve made the decision in the off-season.

Hoglander is a highly skilled Forward & Woo is exactly what TOR needs. A shutdown D who is hard to play against.

If Stammer signed in 2014, you very likely were not getting 1OA in 2016 robidas island wouldnt have worked and you are probably looking at sonething like 8th - 15th in 2016. This is probably fine though as Matthews and Stammer are nearly identical players. You might not get Tavares as you now have a bunch of money invested in Stamkos. Overall i think its for the better the leafs didnt get him.
