He's not signing for 3rd line center money, which is likely why he's available in the first place.

Pretty similar to my post, however, I dont know if I would be comfortable with only 2 extra players all year long. Might be risky.

He is coming off his ELC and I do not think anyone will want to go ahead and give him all this money right away. I think a 2-year deal for around $3.5M can be quite valuable for both player and team.

It's my assumption. I suspect that Chicago sees him below Toews and Dach in the near future, and don't want to end up paying their 3C 5+mil. If he was willing to sign for 3.75 no way Chicago moves him.

Strome scored at a 72 point pace last season & 53 point this season, he is a good play driver according to the stats, but very bad defensively. Honestly I’d say in the 4.5-5.5 million dollar range for 3-4 years. Probably makes more sense for Pens to deal Murray in that case.

      I don't think he's available. I wouldn't mind him as a 3C. I mean cap wise it's a lateral move. So it's like no impact.
But I can't see this team giving Murray 5.75 and trading Jarry. Especially with no upgrade on RW.
It's really the biggest problem on this team next year. They need a real RW. Sheary ain't it.
Which is why I think they have to buy out Hornqvist not JJ. They can make someone work at 3RW but it's a lot harder to make someone work at 1 or 2RW.
You CBO Hornqvist and you don't sign Sheary you got 4+ million. Murray gets a bit less and you got a real RW.
Yes you are stuck with JJ unless you can trade him, but GMJR has to figure that out. Hell even putting him in the AHL for the year if Riikola is the replacement.

Ideally I’d find a way to get out of both hornqvist and Johnson’s contract but I don’t think management will move on from Horny yet. My guess is hel’ll end up in Seattle somehow

I have to think they see the same thing on the ice as most of us do right?
I mean RW is clearly the biggest issue on the team. Especially if you are making a lateral move at 3C cap wise.
The only way they can move Hornqvist is to buyout on a CBO. His contract is not made to be traded.
JJ on the other hand you can move somehow. Bury in the AHL, buy out at 1 mil per season whatever. None of those are really options with Hornqvist.
If they get a CBO they have to use it wisely. They don't have a RW for sid. It's painfully obvious to anyone watching this team. The reason they don't have one is Hornqvist is making 5+ and is a bottom 6 player Another year pairing Sid with Simon or Sheary is a nightmare scenario in my book. They have to find better. Even if they play a rookie. They have to do better.

I don't think PIT is a good place for Strome in general. Strome isn't the fastest skater...which PIT wants to run and gun. It's not that Strome is slow or bad or anything like that. It's just that the system you get put in matters.

Also, I don't think the Hawks are really that interested in this offer either. I mean, in all sincerity...hasn't every single PIT goalie gone through an "untouchable" phase in the past 3-4 years. I mean Flower, Murrya, DeSmith, Jarry… If there's any takeaway about goalies that have happened recently...it's that they don't have as much trade value as teams think. I FOR SURE thought Lehner at the TDL was going to get more.

He's not at all bad defensively. That's just not true. He's not super fast. That is true. But to the point. He was at a 72 point pace because he got more PP time last year than this year...AND the Hawks experimented with Strome @ wing...which was stupid and every CHI fan knew it, but Dach's here...so what do you do? Now Strome wants #2C money (most likely) and the Hawks need to explore their options.

Bjugstad, and JJ will be gone this offseason. Hornqvist is a tricky one because the team and management love him. A scenario I think could happen if The cap does go down(I hope not) would be hornqvist being bought out and coming back on a small deal. Very long shot though.
The only way Murray gets that money I think is ignoring the season comes back and he’s lights out.
Anyway Seattle will help us if they’re willing.

Thanks for letting me know. Even though he’s a poor skater, I still think the Pens should trade for him cuz you don’t pass up the opportunity to trade for an elite talent especially if you don’t have to pay through the roof.
