Actually the Leafs did a good Job crawling out of the Babcock hole last season and being in a playoff spot. That including three of their top 6 Dman....Reilly, Muzzin and Dermot on LTIR.
I know the Leaf are going to cap dump a forward, but really hate the though of Baraanov, Malgin, Clifford in the top 12 and Robertson shouldn't be a Leaf in 2020.

Wdym you hate the thought of Clifford. Clifford is that gritty player they’ve been looking for. And wdym Robertson shouldn’t be a leaf? He was on pace for 60+ goals in the OHL. Robertson should have been given the chance this season. Robertson will be given that chance, and you’re a fool the think he shouldn’t.

Grit is usually a word used folks when they mean not very effective hockey player. If forced to Clifford maybe he finds a spot on the top fourteen, but he's just not that good.
Only a fool thinks a junior stats have that much meaning when he translates to NHL capabilities. The Leafs have high scoring junior whiz Brooks playing for the past two years with the Marlies. He is iffy at best to be considered an NHLer. Now I believe that Robertson will be given a chance, but it unlikely he is NHL ready next season, though he certainly appears he can be an NHLer at some time.

Did I say that his production carries over? No. Obviously you don’t score 60 goals in the OHL then in the NHL. The fact is, Robertson has the skill to make that roster, and again, Clifford would make the roster, not because he’s skilled, but because he’s the gritty guy that’s there to protect the stars, and he knows that’s why he’s there. The leafs have proven that that is a player that they need because no one except for Kapanen lately actually stood up for themselves. And Brooks, no he won’t be making the team next year probably.
