You have overpaid for Domi.
You then made him a 1C, he's not.
Rask sucks but Wild don't need the cap space therefore, Wild don't pay to dump him.

Overpaid? Its basically Brodin and a first of value, which is all the way worth it.

I'd rather bring Galchenyuk back on a 1 year cheap deal and give him a longer look at center before giving up all that to acquire Domi. Galchenyuk didn't look too bad in the limited time he got at center before the season stopped.

Wild turned down Domi+ for Brodin according to their beat writer. No way are the adding to Brodin to get a wing trying to play center.

I wouldn't trade Brodin for Domi straight up. Domi is out of position as a center. He does his best work at LW and Wild are fully stocked up at that position.

Chucky played well for the Wild as a 3C. I wouldn't hate it if they gave him more time, as long as they tried to find a young center that could develop into a 1C first.

I think Russo put it best: Guerin would be smart to ask Galchenyuk to be patient and keep tabs on him, but see if he can swing a deal to bring in a legit top 6 center. If no deal is available to be made, sign Galchenyuk for a short term deal to give him a chance to prove himself.

Gotta love having Russo as the Wild beat writer.

Regardless of a person's opinion on his value; Domi had the best season of his career playing exclusively at center so I'm not sure where this narrative of him being bad in the middle comes from.

Also, anyone who's watched him play over the last 2 seasons would know that he has been far more effective and impactful playing center rather than wing.

Didn't pay attention to him last year but this year he did not play exclusively at center I saw two different stints where he was on the wing. Domi is a fine player. That doesn't make him a good fit for the Wild.

No argument about the fit, was more curious about the why people thought he wasn't a centerman.

The instances you mention are probably when he was playing with Suzuki and both would alternate at center depending on which side of the ice the faceoff was being taken. Otherwise I can't think of many times when he played wing in MTL.

Domi is a top-6 wing or a 3C, the Wild have had enough of those players over the years. His d-zone play isn't good, he's small, not very physical, and doesn't have any elite skills to mask those shortcomings. He spiked a really good year, then fell back down to earth. Viewing him as a center is a lot like CHI's Strome: a nice 3c that can play up in a pinch to have, but not the guy you want as your 2C for long.

Most of that is fair, although last season he had great chemistry with Drouin and Shaw. Most of his linemates this season didn't seem to be on the same page as him. He was trying to generate chances but no one ever seemed to be where he needed or expected them to be.

Anyways I digress, my point was more about how my experience of him has been that he was more impactful as a centerman than as a winger. Sure he has some bad habits but they can get quite overblown, if he was that bad Julien would definitely not use him down the middle (as he did with Galchenyuk).

That doesn’t change the fact that Domi is the first “center” every Habs fan wants to trade...and you all want to trade him for the last defenseman most Wild fans want to see traded. Can you see how this math doesn’t make sense...at least from the Wild’s perspective?

You're right but I really wasn't commenting on the value of the trade proposed. I was trying to correct the false narrative of Domi not being a centerman, not whether either team should do this.
