Strome Krug

Created by: Tkachinla
Team: 2020-21 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 31, 2020
Published: Apr. 7, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
How much would it take for Krug to leave BOS?

Throwing in the Strome trade because everyone is. CHI probably prefers getting a player back in any Strome deal, assuming he’s available. But this is a package that could work for both clubs -- OTT still has a load of picks in 2020 and 2021, while getting back a proven 23-year old playmaking center with upside.

I wouldn’t want to sign Krug. We don’t need LHD plus he’s 29 so he doesn’t fit the timeline to compete

I'm not going for Strome at that price. If there's a dealer that makes sense involving pieces like Tierney or Duclair who don't factor in as well long term I'd be open, but I'm not trading a 1st round pick.

And that Krug contract is terrible. No reason to add an Expensive offensive LD when Ottawa has offensive LD like Brannstrom and Wolanin coming

How good does Ottawa think Brannstrom will be? STL has one good LHD prospect (Perunovich) and a couple decent ones but it looks like we need one more guy in the future. Would OTT be interested in Kostin+ or is Brann too high valued?

Nah Brannstrom is too high valued. He only had 4pts in 31 games in the NHL but he wasnt given the green light to push on the offense. He is averaging close to a point per game in the AHL and his expected points per game in the NHL is very high. I wouldnt trade him unless its a 1 for 1 with a young elite forward or a bit more.

Fair enough, figured I'd ask because you have Chabot on the left who I think will win a Norris eventually

Our D will look something like this"
Chabot-JBD
Brannstrom-Thomson
Wolanin-Zub/Jaros

JBD is Pesce with a bit more offence, Thomson is similar to Dumba but a bit less physical, Brannstrom has solid defensive positioning and awareness (his offense will come but for now ill say Quinn Hughes with a bit less offense, probably less PP). Chabot is well Chabot the guy can play 30 mins a game without breaking a sweat, he was on pace for 70+ last year if he didnt get injured. With elite forwards, he can get back to the 60-75pts range. Wolanin is very underrated , he was supposed to be our 2nd pairing d man over Brann at training camp but got injured for 4 months. He came back in February and looked really good in the few games he played in the NHL and quickly gained DJ's trust.

Idk if we even need one more guy. Dunn is excellent, Perunovich will probably be decent and Mikkola has looked solid as well. There's a good chance we'll be set on LHD for awhile

You guys should just focus on getting rid of Bozak, Steen and Allen, thats like 15 mill in space. Then figuring out what to do with your right side, youd be paying too much money to the right side if you re-sign Pietrangelo.

Krug isn't wasting his time in Ottawa, More then likely if he doesn't reup with Boston he's probably heading home to Detroit. He grew up a diehard Red Wings fan and has stated that he would love to play there. So we shall see.
