There really isn’t as much cap hell as you think here.

The Faulk signing wasn’t smart but they don’t need to re-sign Scandella or trade Bozak but if they wanted to they could. By the time Thomas needs an extension, the cap will have gone up

Thomas is far from the only one... Binnigton will need a big payday, Schwarts will ask for 6 mil and Kyrou will be ready for his first multi million contract

I don’t think they re-sign Schwartz. Binnington will get a longterm contract and Thomas/Kyrou will get slight raises on bridges. Maybe they convince Seattle to take Faulk and end up re-signing Schwartz who knows.

Keep this in the back of your mind, depending upon how the bottom half of the first round develops: Jacob Larsson and Anaheim's second (probably 36th overall) for the St. Louis first. Larsson is an RFA and excellent bottom-pairing LhD, so he's younger and would be cheaper than Scandella -- of course, this depends upon Gunnarsson and Dunn being able to play #1-#2 defenseman.

Pretty sure they will. I think they'd trade Schenn before letting Schwartz walk.

I don't think Pietro gets that, or frankly close to that. Would he have 2 months ago? Sure (I think a little less, but regardless). Now with a flat cap at best and who knows with future years when people's disposable income will tank? Nah, I suspect this year's UFA's are going to take HUGE hits from what they expected.

I love Binnington but I think an 8 x 6 contract is pretty unlikely. He was league average this year, and I think that's probably what we can expect next year too, which is perfectly fine and all the Blues really need behind that defense, but also is not worth 8 million. If he had maintained in the .920-.930 range that he was during the cup run, then maybe, but I think everyone knew that he wasn't going to be that guy all the time right? I think you shave probably a million or so off of that contract. He'll be 27 by that point, honestly I'd rather do 6.5 x 8 and just take up all of his prime on a max deal and keep the AAV down.

Should have kept Edmundson *over signing Faulk to a seven year contract* but probably not kept Edmundson in general

Losing Bokk and Edmundson for Faulk is gonna hurt them lol. Edmundson was still decent and doesn’t have a bad contract lol

Edmundson has some of the worst analytics in the league and Bokk has been unimpressive. The trade was perfectly fine, it was the extension that was bad.
