Seems kind of expensive for Barzal. I see him getting between Aho and Rantanen money.

But on the other end, That seems somewhat low for Toews.

This really just shows that the Isles are screwed without a cap raise/buyouts.

I think isles will slightly overpay barzal to get him signed for 6+ years.

Isles writer for the athletic believes isles will go short term , lower AAV (he actually projected 2.5 x 2). I like toews , he’s a solid top 4 guy but he’s had a bit of a sophomore slump. I’d lock him up long term, but I don’t think it’ll happen.

Worst case scenario , if there is no CBO and cap remains the same - they will need to trade Leddy, hickey (with a mid rd pick as a sweetener) and bury komarov + ladd in the AHL. That saves 11.5 mill. They aren’t screwed, but it doesn’t leave room for upgrades - but trotz needs to stop relying on grinders and develop a more progressive mindset so it will be good for guys like wahlstrom and bellows

I do think the most likely scenario is 1 CBO + cap remains the same
