Imo letting Larsson walk would be a huge mistake. The defense isnt very good here

Leave sunny and warm Tampa for Buffalo? Doubtful.
Tampa fans seem to ignore this fact. I don’t see many players waiving to be traded to places that can actually afford them.

Edmonton's defense? Larsson will be 3rd pair in 2 years there? Bear and Bouchard are the really good prospects. Their defense is the only thing that team actually has depth on

Buffalo's. Larsson is a 3rd pair defenseman at this point. My bad I should have specified looking back. Johan Larsson has been producing like mediocre 2nd liner this season and it seems sustainable. He would be a good 3c or awesome 4c for buffalo who would only make in the 2-2.5 range. Buffalo's defense isnt good any way to put it

Edmonton doesn't really want to make that trade IMO. They already have way too many RHD in the pipeline. Bear is already their best RHD, and Bouchard is NHL ready at this point. Not to mention that Caleb Jones prefers to play the right side. They'd rather just let Larsson walk after his contract is done IMO

Leaving Tampa for Detroit?? Ntc doesn't keep you from waivers. Johnson gets put on waivers and Detroit claims him. Nothing may be a better return them Tage Thompson.I

Carolina is the last team that needs a dman.

And the Edmonton trade is awful for the Oilers...

Bouchard is ready? He is less defensively sound than Liljegren and produces less offensively. He needs another year. Don't rush him. He will be good.

My belief is that the oilers will keep larrson until next year FA and will probably let him walk because they have prospects that are coming. This trade is not possible because, the oilers wouldn't give up a second (potentially a first ) to trade for the same quality dman that has a bigger cap hit and a extra year.

Larrson will be at least a 3-4 for the next two years at least

I agree with you that he at least needs one year but man have you seen his shot?

You might be right. But he looked pretty good in the Bakersfield games I saw. Maybe I didn't watch enough games this season. But either way I don't see any need for Edmonton to make that trade. We had the best power play in the league this season, no way that we need anyone other than klefbom and bear to be on that first pop unit. When you have a historically good power play, usually you don't bring in an offensive dman that's something of a pp specialist. I just can't see why we'd need to swap Larsson for Risto. I certainly think that Larsson fits way better into Dave Tippets coaching than Risto, and I can't see why Holland would be motivated to do this trade. But that's just my opinion
