Draft Day

Description
Draft Day MTL has the 8th OA Pick

Poehling is being moved to Wing like Bergavin said and Ryan himself said in the media he's got to learn to play a 200 foot game before he can learn to play a 200 foot game with Center responsibility. Poehlings done well at both NHL and AHL levels since being moved to wing and honestly as a Power Forward i kind of prefer him learning to dig out pucks and distbute them before driving to the net.

I figured Poehling on Wing would get the most heat from MTL fans hence the explanation.
More minutes ,more time to play beside better quality of talent could be a big help towards getting him into the top 6 picture IMO (as a center he's 3rd line projected at best like Lars Eller but i think as a Winger he has higher upside )

Andersson -Kotkanemi-Ylonen in Laval as top line
That could be a real impact line in the future if they click

We'll upgrade lines in the Summer by re-signing Kovalchuk and Thompson to replace Weal and Weise in the depth chart for similar to what they're making.Maybe target a Maroon to upgrade on Evans letting him develop in Laval. But the commitment to using this time to get our youth minutes. Danault and Domi increase their value while Suzuki and Kotkanemi at different levels get to play more ice time preparing them for the day they succeed Danault and Domi .
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Andersson, Lias
  2. 2022 1st round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
1st round pick in 2022 gives NYR depth today and a higher chance that the 1st will be a late round pick. Given the end to their season one has to assume there close to being playoff regulars with their core and Armia gives them size without losing skill.(big man can move and is great at gaining entry into the OZ)

Coleman got a better deal and makes 500K more.
NYR
  1. Armia, Joel ($1,300,000 retained)
Additional Details:
If Coleman can get a 1st and Nolan Foote a former 1st round pick then Armia can get a 1st and Andersson from NYR i figure

Same size ,age,production and role
MTL is taking a lesser quality prospect
That said NYR push this year shows they're
Rebuild has gone according to plan as shown
From their finish this year.

Panarin -Strome-Armia just sounds good
Armia can dig out pucks in the corner and cycle them
To Panarin and Strome to make the plays like he does for Domi and Suzuki.
2.
MTL
  1. Foote, Cal
  2. Paquette, Cédric
  3. 2021 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
TBL gave up more for less.

They not only have a history of trading their 1st's and 1st round prospects they traditionally get less in return.
TBL
  1. Tatar, Tomas ($1,800,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Tatar at 3m cap

TBL gets to upgrade from 18 point player to 61 points top line player for the cost of Paquette and Condon's(UFA) salary.

They gave up a 1st and N.Foote for Blake Coleman who's career high is half of what Tatar was on pace for. Getting Tatar gives them a consistent 20 goal scoring playmaker with speed(Given the age of most of their core players with full NMC's they're all in as their trade history shows they'll flip someone with a higher cap to re-coop picks)

Coleman deserved that price, he’s a consistent 20 goal scorer and a good pk guy. I’m not convinced Armia is the same at either aspects. The Rangers can afford other players over Armia and wouldn’t pay that much for Armia, nor do they really need him. Tampa is going to have troubles signing Cirelli, Cernak and Sergachev so they definitely can’t afford Tatar.

I kinda agree. Armia is better than Coleman and Anderson is worse than foote.

Perfect explanations but please use the proper year to give a better outlook on everything next time. smile
If we start the season with Lehkonen's 1st line LW and Poehling's our 2nd RW we're not a playoff team and maybe aiming for a 1st overall if 1 or 2 guys get injured. It's cool to trade Tatar and everything but no one in the organisation is even close to break a top 6 LW spot (Prospects or roster players) except if you're going in free agency with a mindset of at least getting a middle 6 winger to help right now.

But we still have 7 millions to sign a winger, and Drouin could probablu be moved to the 1st line.
