Florida passes on that but creative nonetheless.

Johnsson's value is down big time given his injury and not that he exactly was moving the needle for a big return anyway.

I've done this Florida trade probably on 10 AGMs now, and this is the first one that says either side passes. Mind explaining why?
The only difference is I usually ask back a 4th from FLA rather than a 3rd.

Considering the NSH pick will probably rebound into being a later one, it's not that massive a package. NSH is desperate for change to their middle six. It's either him or Killorn IMO, and Killorn comes with a higher price tag that NSH may not want to part with.

Dermott is not going anywhere as he is a first pairing potential regardless what the so called hockey experts think.

I created that exact trade and a Florida fan told me Toronto was overpaying lul but it was a still a good trade for both sides. Florida would be stupid to pass on that deal as they get 2 good players and a higher pick. And Toronto gets 2 cheaper players and pick depth

Good trades overall pretty realistic especially the Florida trade lul. When did my version I brought Mayfield but stretcher is also a good option

Would assume they didn't see the extent of how good Weegar is then. To be fair he missed a chunk out of injury, but to be seen as florida's best/tied best defenseman this year out of nowhere (with good stats all round) is a great accomplishment. TOR should be sending the higher pick.

Yep that's why I gave them a 2nd as weegar on his dominate side won't come cheap. So to make it fair Toronto gives a 2nd and Florida gives one of their thirds. One team gets a better center and a cheaper defense the other gets a cheaper center and a right defense man

I haven't really commented on the trade yet but have seen you and others post it, I think it doesnt really solve any of Florida's current needs while taking away one of their better playing RD. Like the value is fine, however it doesn't really help them with save on contract costs.

You’re over hyping Dermott. At this point, he is a fringe top 4 guy. He has not turned into what he was supposed to, and thus expendable. You already have Muzzin, Rielly and Sandin down the left side and need a RHD, thus Dermott is the odd one out

Dermott has first pairing potential?? Dermott has not shown that he is more than a 5/6 guy for the past two seasons. You don't have to be an "expert" to see that.

Throwing Dermott into a top pairing roll and asking him to do it wrong handed is a god damn recipe for disaster.

All you guys need to realize that Dermott has not had his real chance to being really counted on and relied upon by the Leafs as an important member of the defense core. He proved his worth in his last game played this year against Tampa and when needed and relied upon and stepped up to the challege and was fantastic in the Leafs win.

You guys are all writing him off but do not realize he too is virtually a rookie but has a huge upside.

You must be a fan of Mike Babcock to make a statement like that. Do you have no confidence that Dermott could not play on the right side and this would actually solve the problem.

@Wqrrior

He can play right side, yes, but he isn't strongest there. Just because he has or can play top pair doesn't mean he is carrying it. Often it would be Rielly carrying him and filling in his mistakes if playing that role.

Still, no matter what, Weegar's upside is massively higher than Dermott. I can accept an argument that Dermott can still be a top 4 guy, but Weegar already is. Besides, a defense core with Dermott has already proven to not work. You can't keep trying the same thing and expecting different results.

"His last game".... Laughable.

Take your head out of the sand my man. Dermott is a fringe top four D at best at present.

Putting your faith in Unknowns just because they wear blue and white is very thin ice. Smarten up.

Have no idea what you are going think when Leafs resign Dermott this offseason as you have no concept of his upside potential. Really disappointing to hear you cutting down a young player who is really still a rookie defenseman in the NHL and learning the ropes who looks like he is going to develope into an outstanding defenseman. You probably said the same thing about Guy Lafleur after his first 2 years in the NHL. You need to understand the game much better.

Nope. Lafleur was an undeniable talent that was destined for greatness. Dermott is a lower pairing defensman who seems to be regressing instead of improving. There's a big difference.

No you are incorrect. Lafleur was a flop in his first 3 years in the NHL until he got his game together. Dermott played on the great Erie Otter teams and was an outstanding prospect and just needs more time and fans like you need to stay patient and realize it takes some time to mature as a defenseman in the NHL.

You are probably the same guy that thought the Canucks should trade Virtanen because he struggled a bit to establish himself in the NHL. You need to realize that virtually no one just walks into the NHL and becomes a top 4 defenseman in his first year in the NHL.

Laughable!

Lafleur was drafted 1st overall after a 200+ point season with the Ramparts. He scored 130 goals in 62 games that year. There was NO DOUBT about him having an illustrious NHL career. NONE!

PS... Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes just called and asked you to hold their beers.

Stop worrying about what you think other people know or do not know about the game. It is pretty clear with your analysis here that you are a few sandwiches short of a decent picnic anyways.

Dermott has already been passed by Sandin on any scale of "potential" and Muzzin and Rielly are above him on the depth chart as it is. The guy is trade bait IMO. Pack him up with Johnsson and turn it into something the team actually needs.

Mic drop. We are done here.

So you are now calling a second year pro like Dermott the Titanic with out showing any patience. Good thing you are not an actual GM of a team.
