Sure Cirelli is leaving cheap taxed Florida for high taxed California, Probably have to offer him closer to $8 million per for him to sign it.

Perhaps, but if you look at Tampa's expiry contracts for 2020 they have 2 huge contracts and 7 depth contracts to re-sign with only $7M of cap space to play with. And that's with an $84M cap not an $81.5M!

Considering how much forward depth they have I think they'll sign Sergachev, leaving Cirelli to be snatched up.

Realtalk: You're probably not wrong, but I wanted to make it work anyway to see how the roster would look.

Probably not. Look at the NYI's roster. They need to shed cap in order to re-sign Barzal, Pulock, and Toews plus some more depth. They only have $12M in cap space for 2020, and you know Barzal will get $8M. Letting a $1.5M contract for reasonable picks is not out of the question. They'll be worried more about the bigger picture.

LMAO your acting like your the only team after Mayfield. They can sell him to a team that needs defense like Winnipeg for a second and third. A 4th and 7th is laughable.
if there are multiple teams that are after him their accepting a bigger price. Even then they could trade Leddy for a second
Maybe look at the bigger picture before posting

Except nobody else is after him. Nobody thought about it but me, I called Doug Wilson, he made it happen and upgraded my season tix seats as a thank you, and now you're reading about it in HockeyFeed and crying about how the Leafs would've offered more.

Also, it's *they're, not "their."

Oh I didn't know you were a teacher. Uhh some people just don't learn. You realize any team would do this right. Leafs aren't going after Mayfield
Some people never learned and I am glad I am never hearing you again cause your the first guy I have on my ignore list

Beyond the value for mayfield (but at less than 2 mil his is not a contract the islanders are focused on dumping) the sharks main focus will be on forward depth this offseason. the 6th and 7th d man are most likely going to be rookies or young guys coming up to offset the 3 albatross d contracts we have.
And I would put Jarvis in the minors for seasoning for a year or so! Other than that I like the idea.

Sorry you can't hang. You were mostly useless, took everything way too seriously, and couldn't spell, but at least you made zero impact, so that was cool. I'm sure others will enjoy your deconstructive opinions and impolite discourse on their posts. Best of luck

Thanks dude. Ya, I'm working with best case scenarios because it's more fun that way. The kid plays like Marner or Pasternak, and since Pasta went right into the NHL after the draft I'm operating on that impression. My plan with the LW is to constantly cycle rookies to find which one sticks. Martin is there to protect the kids, as is Mayfield. I'm sick of not having heavy checkers on our team.

Your comment would be accurate if the Tampa offer were $5 million or more. But all the Tampa guys keep insisting that Cirelli can be signed for $3.75 million or less. So the question is, would Cirelli prefer $3.75 million in low-tax Florida or $6.3 million in high-tax, extremely-high-cost-of-housing-and-living California? I'm not saying I have the right answer, but you should be careful how you frame the issue. (Personally, I think the housing element is much more important financially than the tax ramifications. Housing is even more expensive in Northern California than it is here in Southern California.)

The Islanders won't have that much trouble re-signing Barzal, Pulock and Toews but they won't be able to re-up Greiss, so they aren't under pressure to dump Mayfield and his modest hit.

Both SoCal teams would offer a second for Mayfield. I've included him in posts for the Kings and the Ducks and Toronto going back to last summer. Other teams needing good depth RD's like Las Vegas and Winnipeg would be interested, too.

I believe the tax difference for $6.4M is around 11.7% between CA and FL because he'll still pay federal tax no matter where he is, so that means he'd clear $5.6M before he had to pay another 20% to the Fed. All of which can be mitigated by charities, non-profit this or thats, travel expenses, home improvement or devaluation, etc. Also, cost of living may be more in CA, but return on investment for land is exponentially higher; it's always a wise purchase and increases in value much more quickly. Plus, no hurricanes. So there's definitely upsides despite the cost.

I'm in SoCal too, but I go to SJ often for games. I've even looked into properties up there and I can say with certainty that the prices are almost identical. SF/Marin County? Ya, those areas are higher. But SJ/Los Gatos/Santa Clara? Same as LA.

You're probably right, but I just wanted to add him for sh1ts and gigs.

Also, the TorotoLeafs kid was getting all twisted over a fantasy roster, so I couldn't resist taking the piss out of him, hence why I haven't amended the offer. Kids who take this site way too seriously are like prey animals, they never fail to inspire the chase instinct in me.

Yes, most likely, but for the purposes of fun I have him passing PTO and earning a spot.

What do you think of the rest?
