I think that is more ideal as a 1 for 1 swap. I like the idea, given they have a similar playstyle. But if you can't move the cap like the trades suggest, you could be in trouble.

Leddy isn’t a cap dump.

I know, but there may not be that much interest. Most teams are pretty strong on left side defense, and given the cap situation they may not bid. DET is an alright destination but it wouldn't be for picks.

If Brady Skjei can get a return of a 1st rd pick with 5 years left on his contract (he was a replacement level defenseman this season) the islanders can get a 2nd or 3rd rd pick for Leddy. There will be a team that will give up a pick for a useful LD2 with 2 years left @5.5 AAV

Leddy is not negative value and there are teams that would want Leddy. Montreal will give up a second for Leddy. He is pretty solid.
Even Buffalo would do it

Give some thought to Vancouver, too. Edler and Benn expire after next season and Fantenberg expires this June. It's not unreasonable.

That’s true - I know Benning was interested in barrie but he can’t afford to give him 8 x 7. Leddy isn’t as talented as barrie but the AAV + term makes him more attractive IMO

I would let Sorokin have some time with the AHL affiliate before making him the backup. I would do what the rangers did and place him in some ahl games and if he does well bring him up and try him out. Its better for their confidence and development.

NYI would be stupid to make that trade for Anderson. Also we aren’t trading Anderson in division.

Sorokin refuses to play in the AHL, which I’m fine with. Hes ready for the NHL.

Bellows projects as a middle 6 winger , he’s likely a 20-20 player. Anderson is better defensively and a better skater and was playing through injury this season. I just think this is a trade NYI would make instead of having 2 rookie F in the NHL.

I agree with you that we’re not trading in division but you said a few days ago that he doesn’t want to play in cbj anymore. I’ve been looking for sources but can’t find any. The only thing that comes up is the Arron portzline article where he says he wants to re up and he loves it here.
I know there shopping him but its not due to the unwillingness to resign. (From at least public knowledge/ what I’ve found in my research.)

My comments came more from his agent saying that he doesn’t want to be there. I’ve also changed and I’d say Anderson just wants to get paid. He doesn’t care what team he’s on, he just wants the money.
