I never understand why Clifford gets million plus deal with term....1.4 X 3 and Spezza gets 700,000. Clifford is an iffy NHLer.

Clifford's last deal was 1.6m x 3. I went a bit lower. I signed him because Leafs want to resign him. As for Spezza. His last deal was 700k because he wanted to play for Toronto. This is assuming he decides to do the same deal he just did. Because he could get a lot more elsewhere. (He could have the first time around also)

He is not the valuable piece in that trade :P Parayko is a monster on D and they also get a first. Bozak in the title was more of a joke. Only reason Leafs may do this is because Bozak only is signed for the one year. So it's not awful. Bozak is still a good, quality, vet, centremen for the 3rd or 4th line. (not worth 5m but they bite that bullet for one year). I don't think the Leafs make this trade.

Agreed! If they lose Parayko and Pietro in the same off season, that wouldn't make sense. This is assumed that Pietro resigns with ST Louis.

yep Parayko is going to be their top RD next season if Pitrangelo goes. He may even become the captain but personally O rielly could be a good fit for the C

Imo Parayko+Bozak+1st+3rd for Marner+Dermott is a deal worth considering for both teams...

Yes, for St. Louis it is bad, not because Marner is bad but this would handcuff St. Louis cap wise. They would be losing a #1 defensman, a top 6 forward and they probably would not be able to sign AP. They would loss 2 players in the trade and a 3rd to free agency and only replace those players with one player and restrict them from both drafting a potential replacement and signing a free agent cap wise.

I am not degrading Matthew's but it just does not work for this particular team, especially since they are cup champs and that they are one of the best teams in the west.

I seems that Toronto fans believe teams like St. Louis who have or had more points than Toronto will mortgage their future for Matthews, and possibly destroy their future.
