I don’t think that the nhl will allowed such thing. If they allow team CBO that will be for their own player, i guess they will make that clear.

Cernak is a top 4 dman, I don't see Tampa trading him away. They can just move Johnson to a team looking for a center and get something in return. Its not like Johnson has negative value he is still a very good player. A team like Buffalo or CBJ could use him.

And they trade engvall who is better AND cheaper and younger than clifford?

TJ isn’t that bad of a contract.. they could prob get a late first in return for him, similar to the miller trade last year

So the Leafs trade five regulars.....Johnsson, Engval, Kerfoot, Holl and Dermot.....get three back Cernak, Little and Jones. Have 21 man roster and no cap. Now how does this make the Leafs better?

So basically trash for Johnson and Cernak Julien Brisebois would laugh at that offer Johnson isn't waiving from Tampa to Toronto just to be boughtout. That's a laugh of a trade and Tampa declines.
