Isles won’t sign barzal for 4 years. It’s either 3 or 6+ .

Dobson won’t be the 7D next season and Ilya sorokin is signing soon, the isles do not need markstrom

Easy way to think about this is...

Cost of taking Boychuk: Islanders pay at least 1st.
Cost of taking Ladd: Islanders pay at least a 1st.

Cost of Bailey < 1st

tbh if you put a 1st + Wahlstrom on the Isles side in that deal it still wouldn't even be close.

Wahlstrom would never be included to dump a bad contract. He’s pretty much untouchable.

1) This is a Pitt fan posting about the Isles, and they seem to have little knowledge of their situation.
2) They signed two goalies for who know why. Griess is a UFA, and Markstrom is not a need. Sorokin is their backup next year.
3) All of the RFA deal are unrealistic, Barzal gets $9-$9.5, Pulock $6.5, Toews $2.5
4) Brassard will not be re-signed, and that is a ridiculous salary for any team to give him.
5) The Columbus trade is way off, I know that even as an Isles fan so just ignore that but don't start with a 1st and Wahlstrom need to be moved to move Ladd and Boychuck.

This team post was an attempt to troll, or the poster really know nothing about the Isles.

Asking for Texier is a non starter from Columbu plus taking all that cap that we can’t afford. You’d better be offering up someone if Whalstrom isn’t in the trade. Oh and they want a first back. Lmao that’s never going to happen.

Try this as a trade if you want us to take your cap.

Ladd, Boychuck, Dobson, 2021 1st, 2022 1st and if you want Texier back add another 1st.

Because now we can’t afford PLD, Korpisalo, Merzlinkins, Anderson and Gavrikov. We’d go full rebuild and you’d help kick it off.

No reason to even continue with this debate. As Isles fans we know that the Ladd, Boychuck, Bailey for Texier and a 1st is a completely unrealistic trade.

The OP is a troll.

Read what I said. We are taking so much cap that we can’t afford to sign PLD or either goalie. Then on top of that you want our 1st and our best rookie. So yeah, Dobson or Whalstrom has to be coming back. If we’re taking 16+ mil in cap and sending almost none the other way. It would be like asking for Bellows and your 1st for Dubinsky, Atkinson, and Wennberg. So now you don’t get Barzal or Pulock back.

I am in agreement with you, there is abslutly no way CBJ, or any team for that matter is taking on close to $17M in cap space. It was a bad trade, from a non-Isles fan.

Missed that last part 😂

I agree it makes no sense for both teams.

Well, yes, I agree, if you spend $12.25 million on totally unnecessary signings, this team is going to have a hard time with the cap.

Start over, and from the opposite end. Take @Warrior24 's figures for the big three free agents and then work downward from there, because signing them is your first priority; everything else has to be shoehorned to fit that.

My goodness, what is this? Columbus is paying NYI to take their problems away??? (Not talking about Bailey obviously)

Am I missing something here or was this targeted at CLBS fans as a troll?

Barzal shouldn't be making more AAV than Sebastian Aho. 6.5 is too much for Pulock. He should not be making more than Slavin. Toews should make a tiny bit more than 2.5. Brassard signing IS a necessity(given their lack of C depth) but not for that much AAV.

Brassard is NOT a necessity. Barzal - Nelson - Pageau - Cizikas. Koivula in the AHL and Cole Bardreau if he stays

Those are still not better depth C players than Brassard.

Let's start with Brassard is not a C. He was brought in to be the 3C and failed which is why Pageau was acquired. Brassard is a W, and has been for 3/4 of the season where he can be replaced by Bellows, Wahlstom or a number of free agents like Craig Smith.

2 things
1 Brassard is a guy you can play in a pinch for either position
2. You know Trotz wants to ease one if not both of them in by rotating them with a vet and Brassard is the better and cheaper player with familiarity to do so.
