Agree on Toffoli. But I think that AA has arbitration rights, so would have to be paid at least 3.3m anyways. Could be wrong though.

Arbitration doesn't mean an automatic raise though. They look at comps to see what he's worth on a 1-year deal, and after the season he just had, I doubt he gets more than his Qualifying Offer of $3M.

In the scenario above he didn't file for arbitration (he has a 2-year deal) so obviously he negotiated a small raise. I think it's more than he's worth, but probably not far off.

Girgs is not a center and I don't think he gets a raise in a flat cap world. And I'm not high on Aaron Dell... but otherwise this looks pretty decent.

Well done.

laugh laugh Detroit laugh You're not getting what amounts to a late 1st for Puljujarvi and Benning Detroit #32 pick is pretty much a late 1st round pick. Neither have that kind of value.

I think it's reasonable enough. Carolina offered their 2nd + a prospect for Puljujarvi last fall, which is similar value to the #32 pick. And Puljujarvi has increased his value since then.

If you were to do a re-draft of 2016, Puljujarvi would fit in the 15-20 range, so I think getting him for #32 is decent value. Especially considering he can step in immediately whereas #32 won't be in the NHL for 2-3 years.

Same can be said for Matt Benning. In a re-draft he'd go in the 40-45 range, acquiring him for #65 or so would be very good value. I don't think the Oilers should sell him that low, to be honest. His GF% has been consistently above 50% and consistently better than his teammates. He's good defensively, but what most don't realize is that his scoring rates have been decent too, at 0.85, 0.86 and 0.91 the past 3 seasons. Only Nurse scored at a higher rate on the Oilers this season, and only Bowey among Detroit regulars.
