leafs take advantage of bad situations NYI TBL

Created by: leafs101
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 10, 2020
Published: Apr. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Roy and liljegren split the time on the bottom RHD spot unless one is clearly better. TBL gets more than they would from a Cernak offer sheet. NYI dumps a brutal contract and still gets scoring help. LA gets a younger defenseman with a bit more upside, leafs get a sturdy young RHD who could end up in their top 4 one day. WPG gets more defensive depth that they need with byfuglien's situation and the potential of demelo walking in FA, leafs get cap relief and a pick. Oilers gets another speedy young winger for cheap, leafs get a little bit of cap relief and picks.

Yep, something will actually have to change for them to give teams a free buyout. It's entirely possible the cap may go down, that wouldn't surprise me given it's unlikely they manage to resume the season in the same format and play out all of the remaining games with full arenas watching.

But even if the remaining of the season would not be played i don’t see the cap goiing down. The League have some sort of funds and probably assurance that cover parts of that amount they have lost. With Seattle franchise that will inject 500 + millions and the new TV sponsor contract in 2021-22 the league will survive and if there something that happen it moght very be a slight increase in the cap.

If he can't even make the lineup , why would edmonton trade a 4th, and 6th for him

a 5th for him is fine. 2 picks are to much for him

Q. Who do the Kings have behind Matt Roy at RD?

A. Paul LaDue (2 games in the NHL last year), Sean Durzi and Austin Strand (a combined 0 games in the NHL last year).

Engvall may not even make the line up next year according to Chris Johnston. Holl will probs stay, and Dermott will be traded for a RD in a package.

Do you honestly think Chris Johnson knows everything?

Holl might get traded, Dermott most likely gets traded with no space left on LD (Rielly, Muzzin, Sandin) and Engvall is going to have to fight for a spot still

Do you realize that Dermott may be shifted to the right side?

why not? Leafs fans can't pretend like our players are so much better than everyone else's, and we need the cap. Dermott was the only one I had a hard time moving.

Why would we trade players we have that are just as good as the possible players coming back in a trade?

do you realize that if the leafs go out there and have this its a fail by the team??:

Rielly-Dermott
Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-Liljegren

the leafs NEED a RHD and have the leverage to make it happen, you don't have to trade all of them but dammit get a defender that can defend the other teams top guys, nobody on that right side can do it consistently enough. A Connor Murphy could work, Manson might work, DeMelo might work, Dermott is good but not good enough.

it wasnt 100% his words he talked to keefe off camera and keefe mentioned he thinks engvall may not be in the line up next season as recently he just is not playing well. The dangle podcast shed some light on the situation and this offseason is going to be strange. We may see some guys that nobody thought of join our team on friendly deals to to this cap crisis

I have watched Dangle and believe me he is a nice guy but kind of out to lunch with what is really happening.

Think you are over reacting. Do not think you are appreciating the fact that Rielly and Muzzen were both injured for a lot of games this year and defensive pairing were all messed up through out the year.

Listen Holl is doing fine with Muzzen and think Dermott can move accross to right side and Leafs add one more right hand defenseman.
