I'm sure Domi would love playing in Chicago. The problem for Bergevin is that he is in a dillema, because last year (2018-19) was a complete breakout season, so that will certainly boost his contract. I'm sure his play was affected by the fact that this was a contractual year for him. A lot of players go through the same problem.
And for people saying he isn't a true center, his game in general is more suited for the center position, but he is not the best in defensive missions. He is more of an offensive player. He became a much better goal-scorer. But at the same time, keeping him long-term in the position will compromise the development of other centers (such as Suzuki and Kotkaniemi). And Danault is too important now to be moved. So the best solution for him moving forward is probably to shuffle him with another left-handed center (such as Kotkaniemi) and spare him of important missions in case there is an icing. He is one of those rare players where his style is between a center and a winger.
And this doesn't make sense for the Blackhawks because they lose some size in trading for Domi. Strome is dangerous in really close areas and he is still the best center they have found since they won the cup. Last year, Strome was yin to DeBrincat's yan. But at the same time, they have Kubalik to pay and they have to find a goaltender (probably Crawford). If I were Bowman, I would consider trading Strome, but I would examine all of my options.
