Hmm sorry, don't see this one working simply because they might lose Shattenkirk next year also. This trade would mean they could end up being much weaker on defence than expected losing Shatty and Porayko in one year span. If anyone is going its Shattenkirk, not Porayko. Unless the draft pick was guaranteed to be in the top 10 or something than STL would have to consider it. Otherwise, by virtue of needs and value of their player, their isn't any need for this trade.

I agree, it wouldn't work unless they knew they were going to re-sign Shattenkirk. But that could still happen.

True but since the demands seem to be pretty lofty and the fact that they don't have a ton of cap room as is, I can see them parting ways by virtue of trade at the deadline or something. Possibly even before the season starts. Signing him long term at 7M isn't wise considering their depth in the position already. If he were a LH dman, I'd be more lenient and say they would. They need to trade him for young/cheap assets in areas of weakness with no salary coming back. IHMO. Given the demand for him, STL would be idiots not trade him.

If they even THOUGHT about giving up Parayko for that little, I'd staple Stan Bowman to a desk phone and make him throw all sorts of shiny **** at STL. Parayko is a ******* stud, never give up on that kid.
