It'd be interesting to see how that Turris for Zuccarello swap worked out for both teams, I want to see more underperforming players/contracts trades.. Lol

Why would you trade Sissons for that?

Only trading him to clear salary, to shore up the D. Really banking on Poile's 4th round track record here (Arvidsson, Ekholm, Smith, Saros) lol.

It could be any team really, but Toronto has a stupid amount of 6th & 7th round picks this summer. The Marlies could use him.

the Marlies have more than enough D that the leafs dont need to trade anything to get em. Not that a 7th rounder is worth much, it's just kinda pointless for the Leafs to trade one when they have 6 guys plus a few upcoming kids that can slot in.

They've got a lot of young, inexperienced guys in the A. Figured they could use someone with a little more pro experience.

meh, the AHL is a development league for the leafs. Let em develope. If they need vets that arnt good enough to be in the NHL they can sign em instead of trading for em

Zuccarello for Turris might be worth a shot, though I have to argue Turris was worse than Zuccarello, but then again Turris plays a position of need for the Wild.
Its probably a good trade since it feels like nobody wins it.

Turris was turning his game around after Laviolette got canned, and is younger than Zuccarello. I think MIN probably winds up winning the trade long term, but NSH has a center surplus, and needs help on wing. It's need for need, and the cap hits and term are both equal.

You do need cap space but Scissons is younger than Bonino and has more years left. Save more cap by trading Bonino. Edmundson has earned at least 4 million on his next deal.

We're probably stuck with Santini's caphit. He's a mediocre AHL dman.

I'm intrigued by the Zuccarello for turris swap though. Only thing that concerns me is that it makes the team even smaller but it's not like Turris is great at using his frame anyways. Zuccarello also has all sorts of trade protection so that's something to remember. We'd have to protect him in the expansion draft and by going out and getting Edmundson we'd have to protect 4 dmen and we'd still likely lose a good dman (fabbro isn't exempt). But if you protect 4 dmen you then get to only protect 3 forwards + Zuccarello.

Forgot about having to protect Zucc for expansion. That definitely complicates things. Wasn't planning on protecting Edmundson in this scenario. NSH could use him in the upcoming season, but hopefully some of Davies, Allard, Carrier, (Farrance?) are ready for full time NHL duty by then. Going to lose someone to Seattle no matter what, and by exposing Edmundson ideally Francis selects him, and leaves our forward core alone.

It was my understanding that if a player waives their trade clause then it is null and void upon completion of the trade.
