Erik Karlsson should have won the Hart Trophy in 15-16. The fact that he didn't win the Norris is pathetic. That Norris was decided in November when media guys started talking about how Doughty was "Due" or whatever.

Did you know that the Norris trophy was not meant soley for offensive defensemen, and in fact there is a whole additional aspect of defense called defense? Doughty has always been better than Karlsson defensively and not much behind Karlsson when it comes to offense.
Let me guess, you thought overrated defensively garbage Erik Karlsson should have won it?
Karlsson was never as bad defensively as people said. And Doughty was never the all world defensive stalwart he was billed as. Doughty was a great offensive talent who was good defensively.
The offensive gap between Karl and Doughty was bigger than the defensive gap. People just didn't like that EK didn't skate backwards defensively.

ignoring the defensive part being wrong, not much behind Karlsson when it comes to offence? Let's take a gander.
Ok, so doughty has 2 50 point seasons and one 60 point season, well one of those 50 point seasons was 59, so lets round up for fun! two 60 point seasons, a 50 point season and 4 40 point seasons
Now, Karlsson, let me check, 2 60 point seasons, so tied there, 3 70 point seasons and an 80 point season......oh and three 40 point seasons where 2 were in 56 or less games.

That's all your opinion and backed by very few people. The top analysts in the league say other wise, aside from the last year or two Doughty was the best all round defenseman and that's the majority professional opinion. And no, the offensive gap isn't that big. He can have the offense award though, he might as well be a forward. Try getting Karlsson to play the kind of defense Doughty does and see what he puts on the board.

oh? How many Erik Karlsson games have you watched? probably none. If you watched the games you'd know what kind of defence he puts up.
