It's sad to see Point and Killorn go but they are the only guys with considerable contracts and a NTC/NMC. It would be Tampa's dream to get one of Gourde, Johnson, Palat, McDonagh, Coburn off their hands but why would anyone waive to leave a contender in a tax free state with beautiful weather.

In this case Anaheim would retain Rakell who's already at a bargain deal at 50% so then they would see Point as a $8.64M player (which is probably what is market value would be). I believe Anaheim runs an internal budget, so Tampa would pay Kesler's money on LTIR (not affecting cap). I think Tampa would rather keep Cirelli as a defensive 2C and Sergachev, than have a very offensive dominate first line. Rakell is a very good top 6 forward and would still look great on a first line with Kucherov and Stamkos. I still think Point is extremley valuable even with the retained salary, and considering they need to pay over $13M to Kesler, Anaheim would also add Troy Terry who could fit in as a 3rd line winger and at least a 2nd rounder.

This trade gives cap space to sign Cirelli, Sergachev and Cernak to decent bridge year deals. Tampa fans, is Cal Foote ready to make the jump? Or does he need some more time in AHL?
