Even if it was just Kapanen I wouldn't do that Oilers trade. Add Holl, who performed very well paired with Muzzin, and it makes it very lopsided.

He was fantastic with muzzin. Some consistancy would make him look a lot better. Liljegren should be ready. He was put in a terrible position to start off. Give him a full season with sandin and he will put up great results

That's just not true. Holl can play with or without Muzzin. Did he perform better with Muzzin? Yes, most players will as Muzzin is an excellent partner. There is absolutely zero evidence that Puljujarvi can replace Kapanen's production.

Do you even watch hockey, who is a future hart winner and Holl wouldn't even make the Oilers roster and that includes the 7th and 8th D. He wouldn't even get top pairing minutes on the Oilers farm team.

he's never shown anything at any level that he could be a starter. He's got "may turn into an ok back up" numbers at best. There's a guy at least this good and cheap on waivers every year and the Leafs shouldnt be trading one of their best PKers to get one

Who won the 17-18 hart trophy? Holl has been very good for the leafs in a shut down pairing with muzzin. He definitely isnt doing all the heavy lifting on that pair but hes put up extremely good numbers for a guy that only played 11 games in the previous season.

I can without a doubt say hes easily better then Larsson, Russell, Green, Benning and Jones. That makes him the Oilers 4th best defenseman.

He’s made major contributions to 24 Grade A scoring chances at even strength and major mistakes on just 41 against, which is a damn good ratio of plus-to-minus for a d-man, given that defenders have limited opportunities on the attack but more responsibility than any other position player on defence.

Caleb Jones is 22 and played top pairing minutes last year with Larsson for about 10 games. The guy is going to be a top 4 D man in the league and is already proving that now. I will take Jones over Holl any day of the week.
