The Calgary trade would definitely make sense in my opinion. I doubt the panthers would accept that though

Yuck...

Do we really think Calgary values DeAngelo higher than they do Hanifin?

We really don’t need another first round pick as much as we need young, cost controlled, NHL ready forwards. If Florida wants to make a deal, they have some good targets in their system. I would target Noel or Denisenko if at all possible.

Exactly

That's the feeling I had coming into this, I was like " Let's see how overvalued is DeAngelo " hahaha

CGY Declines
Cant see FLA doing that trade either
Why go further into the rebuild when it seems like NYR will be ready to contend very soon?

I think that if you want to get the most out of Deangelo, sign him to a one year deal and let him prove that he can continue to be good. As it stands right now, I don't think that CGY moves Hanifin for him, but I think both the Rangers and Deangelo could benefit from a prove-it type deal.

those 1st round picks will be nhl ready by the time NYR really hits their stride in 2-3 years. I might move one of them to help shore up that 2C situation, but honestly I think that the rangers might be smart to stock up on 1sts this year as long as they can draft well.

Agree with some others here, DeAngelo would be interesting for CGY but IDK if i would move Hanifin for him

DeAngelo to CGY is interesting, but other moves are jokes.

If there were CBOs coming, the cap would be decreasing, not increasing.

OTT isn't getting any legit compensation for taking Smith.

And if Strome was really worth a 1st round pick, NYR would've already traded him at the deadline.

Forget the DeAngleo trade, which I feel CGY would decline. The other trades make little sense to me. Why would the Senators want a guy who is a 6-7 dman make makes over $4 mil and a career ECHL player? I know the Sens need money but I think they’d wanna maximize they cap floor money with an LTI retired guy (Kesler, Eaves, etc)
Brass signing I don’t see fitting.
Lemieux is too overplayed and too many years for a guy who had a strong start to the season, then was demoted to 4th line duties the rest of the year.
I don’t understand why everyone has this love affair with buying Staal out. Is he overpaid? Yes. Is he slow footed? Yes. But he has had a solid year. Better on the boards, winning those 50/50 puck battles. He’s been a steady presence who has been able to help DeAngelo to offensively breakout. His contract is over in a year. Don’t worry Rangers fans he’ll be outta there in a year and hopefully by then a guy like Miller will be able to step right into his spot

Don't see an 84 mil cap, within the range nhl quoted earlier, and a cbo.

If Florida is looking to cut payroll, something their owner mentioned, can't see them trading a 1st for a player who is about to hit the arbitration jackpot after playing on a line with Panarin and Kreider....
