Strome has played very well since being acquired from EDM. Last season he had 18 goals in only 63 games and this season he has 18 goals in 70 games. Playing with Panarin though his assists total increased from 15 last season to 41. Strome has proven in New York(!) that he's a solid 2nd line center and that he could bring out the best in Panarin when paired together.

Trading Strome makes no sence for the Rangers. A team needs 3 lines that can score in order to be successful. With Howden playing much better at wing than at center, NYR has 3 centers, Mika, Strome, and Chytil. There's no one on the roster to replace Strome. Take the time to set the lines up and see for yourself.

Strome was traded to New York last season and proved he could be a 20 plus goal scorer playing 3rd line center or on right wing. This year he's proven he could be a point per game player centering a line with one of the best players in the league. Playing with Strome, Panarin is having the best year statistically he's ever had. If Strome were traded, another center would have to be brought in to replace him. Hopefully that center could handle the pressures of playing in NY and hopefully that center would be able to bring out the best in Panarin like Strome does.

I agree. He has 59 points and if the season didn't get put on hold him hitting 70 points would have been a definite possibility. Your not going to get the return of a 60 or 70 point player so I think he is more valuable to the Rangers a player and not a trade piece.

Try making a 20/21 roster. Increases for Kreider, DeAngelo, and Gorgeviev. Rangers look like they need to trade player(s) without taking cap back. Not many buyers for that market. Plus the Rangers have potential bonus which will carry into 21/22

It’s a tough call for them to make. He has formed a solid partnership with panarin. Giving them a lot of something out of the nothing they gave up in spooner. A lot of buyer beware thrown out there with his boost from panarin. Do agree with comments above that he had 18 goals last year without panarin although had an abnormally high shooting percentage. Should have more goals this year with some bad misses on panarin setups. Top 5 pick with a ton of skill. Not every guy puts up numbers playing with a top player. He clearly thinks the game at that high level when you watch the way he works with the bread man. Push is for chytil to grab that 2C role and that was the plan going into this season. He has elevated his play but is he fully ready for that role? Cap is an issue with the Deangelo raise needed and expansion draft as well. If he’s moved I’d try to do it at the draft and not get into a forced debate at the deadline with a potential ufa if he only gets a one year deal. I do agree on values put out there and maybe could fetch a late first and a lower end higher risk prospect. Guy has grown on me a lot this year but I think he will be a casualty of the cap and moved
