Description
If you have 17th overall, would you trade down to 33 to add Tierney and your 3rd back? Seems like the Jets window is right now. Feel like Tierney would add another really good option at C and would help more than 17th overall will in the next 4 years. Still get a pretty good prospect at 33, and your 3rd back for Demelo as a courtesy as you didn't really get use out of him (unless you keep him, which you should cause he's good).

I’d imagine the Jets would do that if we had the 17th rather than the 12th we would have if the standings went by point percentage. Tierney could probably be a 50-55 point centre between Laine and Ehlers/Connor, and there isn’t much difference between 17 and 33 this year. The top 10-15 is fantastic, but outside of that it’s just a normal 1st round year IMO.

And btw DeMelo really fit in well with Morrissey, I would imagine it’s the Jets’ FO priority this summer to re-sign him.

I personally wouldn't, I'd rather just play Copp-Lowry/Gus at 2/3 C

* I'm really low on Tierney as well

If there's no chance of getting another 2C and Haula wouldn't sign with the Jets then yeah I'd make this trade.

I think Tierney could quietly put up points and be an okay 2C if required and a solid 3C at the very least, would be a good depth addition down the middle if Little somehow returns. The Jets have lacked depth at center for years and Little's injury exposed that again, I like Copp but he's really not a top 6 forward, if the Jets had Tierney I think they would have done better wit him down the middle then with Copp there. Having Little and Tierney as 2/3C options with Copp, Roslovic and maybe Harkins(if Maurice would ever try Harkins at center) would be pretty solid center depth to have.

My only real concern with adding Tierney would be that damn looming expansion draft and adding another guy that'd have to be protected.

You should make an ACGM of this trade from a Jets perspective and let the CapFriendly critics debate it.

Tierney isn't at the top of my list of guys that the Jets should target as a 2C (Domi, Cirelli, Strome) but I think this deal is fair and should be considered. Chevy has been good at finding picks that play on the roster after the first round and that #17 (even #12ish) pick wouldn't likely contribute for a bit and this is the Jets window. Plus the Sens get a quality prospect who will help in a few years when it's their time.
Definitely a fair deal!

Tierney has been a consistent point producer his entire career, was a half point a game player again this season with only 2 points coming on the powerplay so the vast majority of his points come 5v5 and he got 4G,1A shorthanded, he'd be a WAY better
2 or 3C then any of Copp, Lowry(who is NOT a 3C) or Gustafsson.

Will do, I'll put it up at a few hours when the Manitoban's are up haha

But yeah, Tierney would probably be a 50-60 point 2C in between some of your wingers. Not a goal scorer really, definitely more of a setup man. Not a big powerplay guy. A REALLY good PKer. Defensively pretty sound. I think he'd be ideal for you guys tbh and I don't think he'll cost as much as he should IMO.

This trade looks okay. I'd prefer an NHL filler C to come back though. Can't throw rookies to the wolves and expect them survive a full 82 game schedule without a veteran presence down the middle they can rely on. Tierney is ol'reliable for the Sens right now and a full time NHL player. After Pageau, their next best defensive center is Tierney. Who else they got down the middle with over 100 games? Anisimov, who hasn't been healthy for years? White, coming off a terrible season? I just think you need NHL bodies to set an example that are already familiar with the organization.

I do think Tierney is the odd man out, just not at this draft.
