CBO and Shake-up

Description
- Pavelski is your CBO decision

-As for the trade with Toronto, Gurianov is a solid player, but in my opinion, the Stars need a playmaker that also has scoring touch. Gurianov has a good skill set but doesnt have the set up ability to help distribute and drive offense from a puck moving standpoint. We saw Rads do this quite a bit last year but ultimately fizzled this year. Nylander fits so welkl with what this team needs offensively and provides a wing that Hintz and or Seguin can play with for the significant future. Dallas really benefited from Zuccarello and his skill set in the playoffs last year. Nylander plays a similar style as an elite playmaker who can score. Dermott comes over as a young RFA to grow with Miro and your back end becomes much more defensively responsible. Klingberg plays the Right side and has the ability to run a potent second unit or slide in if Riley has injury trouble again. NOt a realistic trade possibly, but a fun one that could benefit both teams.

I'm giving you a top 4 RHD on an equally good contract, if not better and a 25 plus goal scorer...

Yes and if you didn't know the leafs need defensive defenseman. Not another Tyson Barrie. If we wanted a rh defenseman who puts up points we could just sign Barrie instead of giving one of our superstars

You may be right, but if you could free up Pavelski who has provided little output and not shake up the franchise, seems like the safer pick.

Klingberg is better than Tyson Barrie and much cheaper. The Leafs don't need to change personnel as much as they need a system change. BUt this gives them a signed RHD to help stabilize that side and continue to let the young studs like Sandin and Holl continue to develop.

Scoring isn't our problem bud. Its defense. That's like us giving you freddy Andersen for miro heiskanen

Understandable. I get what you're saying. Klingberg can play defense and he is able to play the offensive style as well. But the Stars strength is on defense and they lack playmaking. Gurianov has proven to be very responsible defensively and could help up front and also replace the scoring hole Nylander left behind. I think overall, it is a very fair trade.

The value is fair. But it just doesn't fit the leafs needs. I think your better of holding gurianov cause he still have potential

Imo DAL declines the TOR trade. Overall I see Klingberg being better than Nylander, and Gurianov has been great.

Also if there's CBO coming, the only player they should consider buying out is Benn, sad to say, because of that contract being too risky. Love the guy, but the risk of his contract becoming a liability is too high.

I don't agree that Klingberg makes more of a difference then Nylander. Nylander is what is needed up front for this team to drive offense.

Benn can go either way. I think over the next five years, he is making more of a difference in the line-up than Pavelski ever would. That was a mistake by Nill. Benn still has it, and honestly, idk that we can make a decision til they hire a new coach.

Let's just say that you'd end up missing him after having no other options but using Johns as the first pair D as he's our only RHD left after that trade.

Benn's contract wasn't exactly a mistake. He was awesome before and earned that contract. There wasn't any other way to keep him in the roster.

THe mistake was Pavelski's. I think Benn earned that deal. I agree fully.

I don't see that Pavelski deal being a mistake either. Yes it's a tad big, but he scored 38 goals last year and had good playoffs until the injury, He also deserved to get a $7M contract. If DAL didn't pay that, someone else would've done it. Our team was in need of scoring help, which is exactly what Pavelski was acquired for.

Granted this season haven't went exactly as expected, but still there's no contract in our team that would be definitely classified as negative value or instant CBO had we got the chance. That's what I like about this team.

Our approach to the game is defence first, so it's not really a mystery that the numbers of our players aren't that high. Even still, we're a solid playoff team as of now.
