Cernak

Created by: paulmull
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 15, 2020
Published: Apr. 15, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
im not saying these trades are exact so please add what picks would be need to be added to make the trades fair

the only way i believe to pick up someone like cernak is paying through the nose for him, to offer him a contract something similar to girards contract that he signed that might help lure him to sign an offersheet for the leafs and i cant really see tampa being able to sign him at that contract especially getting back a 1st and 3rd for him they might not try, and he may get chance to team back up with dermott

both jonno and josh anderson had injury plagued seasons, anderson plays 3rd line on CBJ behind cam and bjorkstrand but maybe mango may break top 6 lines with there limited left wingers they have

kapi is worth a 1st all day long especially to team challenging team this doesnt have to be nashville can be any team willing to give up a 1st

not sure bout the greenway trade both players can play wing but kerfoot can play centre also and with minny needing centres maybe a deal could be made with picks coming either way to make things fair with greenway being a couple years younger and still rfa

bringing prokhorkin to play with barabanov as they was on same line at ska petersburg

Since when is Cernak a $5M per Dman? He's worth half that much at the very most.

same. I think if he's under your own control you can probably get him at 3-3.5, but if you're offer sheeting I think you go 4.2 (max allowed to give with only giving up a second rounder)

i understand overpay but i did state that cernak would have to be an overpay and he is everything leafs need at the moment with his defensive attributes, i would rather pay 5million to a young player who can play top line minutes, then pay for a ufa whos gonna regress like hamonic, tanev or brodie etc who would want same money over similar years

at that a friend of mine is a Tampa fan and he said if it was a 2nd Round Pick Compensation he would say they probably match.

The issue would be that they might not be able to match, especially with cirelli and sergachev needing extensions. His value is definitely more than a 2nd, and if salary cap wasn't an issue I have no doubt that they'd match

I'm sure they have a trade they are wanting to make because it seems Killorn's No Trade Clause is loosening up this offseason, and you still might have the option to trade Ondrej Palat and/or Tyler Johnson.

Huge fan of Cernak, if youre gonna get him thats the only way from an inter division rival. Idk what some others dont get about that. Him and Reilly would be a great top pairing

Kapanen isnt fetching a 1st, 2nd seems pretty standard for him

Also cant see Minny getting rid of Greenway for Kerfoot. Maybe put Kapanen in there instead and Minny can add a 3rd or something cause they need righties at F

You would need to make some of those deals before signing Cernak otherwise teams are going to hold you hostage.

Palat and Johsnon have full NTC. If they match Cernak at $4M then they will lose Sergachev.

Kapanen gets more than a 2nd. And if not, they don't move him because he's better than that.

Full NTC doesn't mean they won't waive.

kapi is worth a 1st, if the like of coleman, goodrow and kase will get you a first then surely will to the right team needing that player, plus hes young and still rfa

Ehh, Coleman is better and is on an unreal contract. Kase had Backes going the other way. Goodrow idrk, i guess a big contender could throw a first to Toronto for Kapanen but Nashville isnt that team

Offering $5m ends up close to TB offering $4m. Adding the cost of living and the $4m in TB is probably has more value.
It should be something that the league looks into and perhaps either adjust the cap to even out the tax disparity, or work with the cities, states, provinces to establish a flat tax for all athletes.

i agree coleman is good, but only 1 year and a few months left on contract were as kapi is an RFA, kase is good when not injured but he is very injury prone over last 2 seasons and boston sent over a decent prospect to take on backes contract i presume

1 issue with the Columbus trade... Johansson wouldn’t crack the top 6 in Columbus. Nyquist and Texier get those spots, Folingo and Bremstrom and Robinson have the 3rd and 4th covered. The miss conception you have that Columbus needs a top 6 LW just isn’t true. We need a top 6 center and Toronto doesn’t have one of those to offer.

I do think you can get Anderson, maybe a 3 way trade were Toronto get Anderson, Johansson goes to someone like Arizona or Colorado and Columbus gets a 2nd round pick would be a better trade for both teams.

No but why would they? Why would they leave a contender with great weather and low taxes?
