I don't believe NYR should trade Strome because it seems that he's much more valuable to NYR than what other teams are willing to pay in trade. At least on this site where it seems many people believe Strome is a 3rd line center, regardless of playing like a top 6 center for two seasons since day one of joining The Rangers. Maybe I'm just concerned about how many people there are that once their mind is made up or they've formed an opinion about someone, there mind can never be changed?
Anyway, I believe the trade you proposed is fair value for Strome. White and Chytil would compete for 2nd and 3rd center throughout the season and although neither one of the young players could be expected to put up the type of point totals Strome is able to give the 2nd line, at the end of next season when Lundqvist, Staal, Smith, and Shattenkirk buyout are off the books... Gorton could sign a UFA or make a trade for a top 6 center, maybe two of them depending on Chytil and White's development at the end of next season.
