uhhhhh in what world does this make any logical sense. why would the redwings give up a pick and a prospect for a players rights?

This would mean that Krug would sign there, which I believe he would, given that it's his hometown team.

1. No it doesn't mean he will sign in Detroit he might sign in Detroit and if he doesn't Detroit has lost 2 very good assets or nothing.

2. If he really wants to go to Detroit he can sign in the offseason.

3. The TDL has already passed and that means he will become a UFA before you can trade him with 1 exception. After the TDL you can still make trades but they don't take effect until the season is over. So Boston could trade him but the players in that trade wouldn't be able to play for either team until next season.

which was my point to begin with. no chance the redwings trade a prospect and a pick for early signing rights to a ufa... thats just terrible gming. if he truly wanted to sign and play in detroit he would during UFA where detroit wouldnt have to pay anything for the player. his contract ends this offseason whenever that is...

This makes zero sense and why would they give up a 2nd and a highly regarded prospect for a UFA. They are no contending this year.

The only way DET trades for Krug is if they want to sign him to an 8yr deal.
