Oilers 100% decline. We are trying to get rid of crap players. Not add more.

If there were CBOs then St. Louis would just use one to free up space for Petro.

Pietrangelo isn't signing that cheaply, Probably looking at closer to $10M to $10.5M over 7 seasons.

Who is spending that money in this uncertain stage of the NHL?

Detroit, Ottawa, New Jersey Buffalo teams that have tons of cap space. And aren't afraid to spend it.

Those teams would just have to be incredibly lucky that a player in his prime would want to go to non-contenders during rebuilds.

Tell me who else is going to be able to afford him? If he wants to go to a contender, There's zero contenders that can afford to pay him what he'll command. If he wants to go to a legitimate contender. Then he's going to have to take a lot less money. If he wants to get paid big money then those are the teams that can do it.

Maybe but try to do it while CBOing Steen and giving a raise to Dunn and giving Pietrangelo 9+ mill

That's exactly what I've been saying. The only way Petro takes max money is to go to a noncontender. A simple cash grab. If he wants to play for a contender, he's not going to get 9mil a year. He's going to have to take a price cut, and if he doesn't take a discount to stay in StL then your guess is that he already has his mind made up. I can't see any teams spending major money right now, but with Petro knowing he will have to take a price cut, it'll be his choice if he wants to stay in StL.

Oh i totally agree with you, With these uncertain times no GM is going to make any crazy moves in free agency. Until we know what's going to happen pretty much everything is at status quo. We shall wait and see everything for now is just wait and see what happens to the rest of the season.
