Description
Hopefully they don't have to lower the cap, but let's be honest with ourselves., it's definitely a possibility. The league just lost 1/5 of their regular season revenues, and possibly playoff revenues. Even if we play again this season, there's gonna be some financial loss, and that means the cap might have to go down. Simple, but it sucks.

This could mean that they allow for compliance buyouts, as these would allow teams to be able to get under the cap. So, who would each team buyout??? That's what I wanted to explore. For this post, i'll do one from each team who I think is either the best choice for a Compliance Buyout, or the most likely. For some teams, this could be very difficult, so please don't hate in the comments.

Remember, compliance buyouts are not the same as regular buyouts, they do not count against the cap. On the financial side of things, they are almost the exact same, with players receiving 2/3 of their salary over a longer term.

Why is Gologski getting bought out? He is having a pretty good year. Also Gourde over Johnson

My question so I can have a confirmation: Is it optional or does every team HAVE TO use CBO?

Goligoski, Gardiner?, Cole, Johnson, Johnsson, Oshie, Fleury are good, no point in CBOing them
Moore and Cogliano if there respective teams really need that cap space otherwise it's correct

Optional. The league wont force you to buy someone out

Also in general why buyout ian cole with 1 year left and no cap trouble?

Hey guys, just wanted to firm this up:

There are quite a few teams who don't really need to use a CBO, but for the purpose of this ACGM I added the most fitting players for that team. Examples include:
- Goligoski: Arizona
- John Moore: Boston
- Ian Cole : Colorado
- Andreas Johnsson : Toronto

I'd make a case for Fleury or Oshie too, even Tyjo in Tampa.

These teams probably wouldn't use it, but if they did this is the most likely person IMO

All in all, a very good list. As you point out, some teams have almost or absolutely no use for a buyout: Boston, Colorado, Toronto come to mind.

Make sure you save this projection and compare it with the "real" list when the buyout is announced because I'm sure that there is going to be one.
