No thanks. Palat has averaged just 12 goals and 36 points over the past 3 years despite playing on a powerhouse Lightning squad and with some of the best offensive players in the world. His top 5 teammates by TOI over the past 3 seasons were Point, Hedman, Sergachev, Stamkos and Kucherov. If all he can muster in those circumstances is 12 goals and 24 assists, he isn't worth his $5.3M contract - especially when you consider that he's already 29 years old and his prime years are done.

I think the Oilers could get better value in free agency this year. Unless the Lightning are willing to retain a significant portion of his cap hit, there's no point in Edmonton making this deal.

Palat is a work horse who has only gotten bottom 6 minutes most nights.

Scoring is not Palat's game, Palat is the Lightning's best 2 way winger by far. He was injured for about 20 games each the past years 17 and 18 so his numbers were down those two years but he is a 45-55 point player who averages about 15 min at 5 on 5, 1 min SH and 1 min PP a game. He is a do it all pocket knife type of player. This year he changed his workout routine and hasn't missed a game and he has been on fire and playing great for the team. He is entirely worth his 5.3 million dollar contract that only has two years left on it, he is more about intangibles then just scoring. I don't know Edmonton's situation to say whether he would fit on the team or not so I won't speculate on that but he is a great two way player who is some what underrated when it comes to play in his own zone and thru the neutral zone. Lightning would much rather move on from Johnson or Gourde if they have to move one of their 2nd-3rd line players to make room.

I literally disproved that statement in the post you were replying to. Did you even read it?
