Flat cap 2 CBO

Created by: CHUG
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 17, 2020
Published: Apr. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The last time the NHL faced large profit losses during the 2013-14 lockout the cap was held the same in the following year and each team was given two compliance buyouts, if that is the case again, I think the pens could put together an incredible team here.

Buying out Jugs and JJ with no penalty (especially JJ) would be huge for opening up some much needed cap space. A player like Craig smith could fill out the top six nicely and is a proven goal scorer and could also move around the lineup if he doesn't fit with Sid and then Simon or Horny could take his spot.

If Byfuglien comes back to the league (Just had his contract terminated with the Jets) he is the exact right player to fill out the pens D-core to give them some size and strength against teams like the Caps, but can also still move the puck well and can help the second PP unit.

If Byfuglien isn't coming back, Marino is fully capable of playing that top four role and you have 4 million to sign a bottom pair RHD.

Rikola or POJ can fill the 3LD role and be very sheltered by the other top 5 d-men who are all top 4 capable.

Murray and Jarry take Prove-it contracts or one of them is moved, either way would work.

would then try to get Seattle to take Hornqvist in the expansion draft with a sweetener (Desmith and a pick or something) and use all that cap space to sign Marino and hopefully Poulin could come into the third line RW role by that time

This team would have no weaknesses.

We know enough... He already wasn't the best skater, and is coming ankle surgery and basically having not skated in over a year by the time the next game will have been played... Def gonna be a pass from me

I like the team overall but I don’t think Byfuglien can play a top 4 role anymore. He is coming off a major injury a time 35. I doubt his conditioning is up to standard, he doesn’t really eat healthy & refuses to train hard. Maybe 1 year at that cap hit would do, but he shouldn’t make more than 3 if he does sign TBH.

Dustin was pretty fast but he didn’t have great balance or agility.

Buff isn't coming back to the NHL. He's going to retire. But I would've loved to see him in Pittsburgh!!

First off I'm honoured that my super @everybody posts are pasted. LOL.
I have to think Byfuglien is in no condition to play, but on the off chance he is 100%(embassies 100%), I wouldn't mind taking a look.
Correction: IMHO the theoretical 2 CBOs would be best used on Hornqvist/JJ. Hornqvist isn't bad at all, and I recognize his contributions to this team. But facts are I love Malkin-Rust and Crosby wants speed. $5.3M is just way too much for a #3RW/1PP guy. He isn't getting any younger, he's injury prone, and he's not the stereotypical speedy penguins winger.
I'd keep Erod, TBH, unless he's needed as a throw in for a bigger acquisition, cue GMJR pulling off a blockbuster. Erod/Simon/Lafferty theoretically as 13/14/15 is pretty good. Plus you know the whole team will get injured at some point, so they will be used.
I've mentioned on numerous occasions how much I love Smith and what he brings. He's for sure a offseason target.

there is a tab in the trade section. It is located right under the team you choose. It's labeled trade away players rights.

I’m not on board with paying buff big money but other than that I like it.
