Give me your thoughts on this wild idea. Thoughts on the pieces acquired(Brown, Andersson, Fox, Beaulieu)?
Disclamer: This is so crazy and wild it's virtually impossible.

I'm pretty sure New York gets screwed here. They don't even need cap relief. This is just giving Pittsburgh a gift

And with that cap space being wasted on Staal/Lundqvist, they instead get a top winger.

@csick you're the Senators guy. What would it take for OTT to take this kind of salary?

They already have cap to get top wingers. Trade for Deangelo and they might consider it.

I'll gladly take DeAngelo instead but cap would be tighter. Isn't DeAngelo better than Fox? I thought Fox was the #3RHD behind Trouba/DeAngelo.

Deangelo is the flashier player because he gets more points so he will get more attention but hes not that good defensively. Fox is a beast defensively and his offense is going to catch up to him. I think the Rangers will look to sell high on Strome and Deangelo but not sure theyll get the values they are expecting. Deangelo could be a #4D on a contending team. Fox is better imo

Deangelo is older than Fox. And I actually think Fox is still better.

It is funny to even consider that the Rangers would give Fox or Deangelo to Pittsburgh

You can have Staal though. lol

OTT takes this and laughs. I'm sure we could flip Hank at 50% retained too. The only problem is that he has a NMC, and I doubt he waives it, especially to come to Ottawa.

Rangers hard pass on this. If they desperately need cap, they can buyout someone, or trade one of Smith, Staal, Lundqvist as cap dumps and they won't need to give up a future 1D in Fox. And if there's CBO's they won't even need to do that.

For someone with Mensa in your profile picture, you very clearly have 0 idea what you're talking about.

Fox is far better than Marino and should (but won't) run away with the Calder... Would you even trade Marino for that package... I don't think I would, and you're getting a better player who's also younger

Fox is better than DeAngelo & I don’t think NYR would include him even if they are to dump two horrible contracts. DeAngelo is a pure offensive defenseman but turns the puck over a lot like Tyson Barrie & isn’t very disciplined.

Connor Brown or Beaulieu aren’t bad gets. But I don’t see the want or need for Andersson. I don’t see Rangers giving up Fox even if it means moving on from King Henrik and/or Staal.

In your opinion, of course. Insulting legitimate intelligence will get you nowhere and shows a lack of it. You don’t even have a profile pic so don’t judge. I did leave a disclaimer that this was a crazy idea and would never happen so chill. Just kicking around ideas. I agree that it’s way easier for NYR to just buyout hear players. But I’m not a NYR fan so I won’t take that route when exploring hypotheticals.

Wow! I thought fox was a nice piece but not quite to that level of importance. I agree it’s a lot for them to give for a couple cap dumps. DeAngelo was suggested but I view him in higher regard. He seems a bit much for a #3RHD spot. Andersson is the New York Pujliarvi but needs a fresh start somewhere.

Fox will be the future #1 defenseman on the Rangers. Anderson is a highly skilled playmaker but he has similar issues to Puljujarvi. Not a great defensive Forward & always taking major penalties / getting game misconducts. He can’t control his temper.

I think he will retire soon. He is always having rifts with his teammates & coaches as well, that’s why his team suspended him while he was on loan.
