Rangers arent doing this. They arent trading Fox to get rid of Staal and Lundqvist when both of those players only have 1 year left on their deals
reelkena liked this.

Somethings gotta give right?

Youve got 16M to sign DeAngelo, Strome, Georgiev and Lemieux, not to mention a couple other smaller names and UFA

What would you put in fox's place?

Those players arent going to cost a lot and considering there is a pretty good chance the league is going to give out at least one CBO it makes zero sense for New york to sell their best new addition for peanuts and to a divisional rival at that. If they were to ever move Fox they arent gifting him to the Pens they are sending him to the Central or Pacific.

They are going to cost a lot. I dont know why you think they arent.

DeAngelo will get between 5 and 6 himself.

You didnt answer what you would do instead

Strome isnt going to cost more than 3

Neither will DeAngelo he is an offensive only D while still needing to work on his D. He is going to be a bridge.

Lemieux isnt anything special.

Georgiev is probaly already going to be traded for postive assets

You are simply justifying a scenario where your favorite team gets one of a rival team's best players through mental gymnastics.

Much like the Ranger ball, I don't think Pittsburgh does this either. Fox would be a nice get, but the cost of Legare, 1st, plus plus plus is just too much. Brown found some chemistry this year with Tkachuk, but outside of that he is 30-35 point nothing special.

Ottawa wins both sides of this trade. Rangers lose, Penguins lose, Senators get the jackpot.

The Pens don't need to shed cap, and I don't care what the Rangers do with their bad contract decisions.

However... teams don't have to super PAY to move 1 year bad contracts, especially when it is a capable player (Lundqvist)

I just noticed that you have the Rangers retaining 25% on Lundqvist too. Yikes.

0% chance of either the Pens or Rangers agreeing to these deals. These are so far off that they are not even the start of a conversation. Rangers don't even comment before hanging up.

Just because a fan proposed it, it doesn't mean that it was good from that fan's team's stand point.

And it was a Pens fan, not a Rangers fan.

Ottawa is the only team that gets a win in this or the original.

yeah guys that was me(a diehard Pens fan)...but that was just a crazy(never gonna happen) idea...I also got killed by ranger fans because I underestimated fox's value...I do see the flaws for NYR/PIT in this trade...OTT would hit the jackpot. I wish my good ideas got copied instead......LOL
