Nah he’ll get a similar deal to Perry this year. If my thinking is correct, he’s eligible for the bonus contract clause. 35+ and missed the certain percentage of games. I’d bet he gets 1-2M with bonus’s based on number of games and playoff success if he goes to a contender.

Buffy is done, he’s survived on a ton of natural size and ability, with minimal work off the ice, and remained relatively healthy for most of his career. Up to the last few years and rehab has killed his love of the game. He is done, he has enough dough and 3 kids to chase around.

Then why give up 14 mil the next two years? No one walks away from 14 mil for two years unless there is something else do your 1-3 mil range is comical

If he's done why didn't he just announce retirement and still get paid instead of mutually terminating his contract?

In my opinion should have followed that last comment, I would give it a pretty minimal chance he would play again, and any gm is only going to be offering a pto and nothing more. minnesota might kick the tires, or Florida if buffy gets a taste for deep seas fishing. But any where under the microscope like Toronto zero chance, timing and bad advice got him to this point without getting paid. I’m not sure if it would have been that simple of announcing retirement and still collecting, with suspension and delaying his decision.

Why would he settle with a contract termination instead of retiring then?

Promise to load management him like Kawhi for a year lol

Lets him get his feet back playing around 50 games then get his money on a 2 year deal the next offseason. He might miss out on around 4M but it gives him a huge opportunity to win the cup. However, in hindsight he could do this on a few other teams.

Knowing Boston, he'd probably end up playing there for free if it was possible lol

This is the exact pitch the leafs would give him. Come play 40 game in the regular season to stay fit and have one last chance at a cup. He would've retired instead of settled for a terminated contracts if he was done playing. And like you said, he's made enough money.

Only thing is ... no one really knows. Not you or me. Unless you've been fishing with him in Florida or Minni lol

So, there's a small chance thats why I made the team.

I would say zero chance with any place that he doesn’t have a previous connection to coach or gm, fishing, and or media scrutiny. If Toronto has top notch fishing and coach or gm from his past, he still wouldn’t go because of microscope
