Barrie isnt signing with a team that is rebuilding and ANA isnt offering him a contract either since he doesnt fit their rebuild. SJ doesnt need more overpaid RD. ANA will just keep Gudbranson as a stopgap

We'd sign Pietrangelo for that figure, but he wouldn't, and we won't sign Barrie unless he decides to do so for at most $5 million.

I feel sorry for Barrie. The NHL's loss of revenue due to this pandemic is going to mean he, as well as a lot of other guys due new contracts, are going to get stiffed.

This. Pietrangelo would be the ideal signing. Barrie would be ok at $4.5-5, but I'd worry that he'd get played too far up the line-up at that price. He's a guy I'd want on our 3rd pairing and getting a tonne of PP time, not paired with Lindholm against the oppositions best.

No matter who they sign (if anyone), Anaheim should keep Gudbranson for the last year of his current contract. He's too valuable as a depth guy even if they land someone good to add to the right side.

I doubt they add anyone. Just another body we can't protect at the ED.
