Perry should get in.
He's won at every team level both NHL+International and had individual hardware wins too (check out his "elite prospects highlight page" - it's stacked).

To me, he's close but not yet. He needs one more "shiny piece of something" either NHL or INT...

Sedins?

Think he's using current players mostly incl some on LTIR (Zett/Hossa)...

Others to consider are - Jagr (supreme lock), Sedins, Luongo, Tim Thomas etc etc....

Misses =
Justin Williams - 3-Cups & a Conn...
Marchand - Junior/NHL/Int success (only missing OLY but if the games started today he'd be on that team and skating w/ a cat called CROSBY - how you like them Nova Scotia Apples - get it)!!
ROR and Kessel are soooo close - bubble boys
Hedman very close too - he'll make it...

Hall of famers don't fall of cliff in their early 30's. Look at Heatley

True mostly, but his game is no 'shrinking violet' softy stay away from the dirty areas - He Is the Dirty Area!!
The "Worms" resume is Uber-IMPRESSIVE (triple gold for starters - that's the "Secret Society Club" reserved only for the elite of the elites)!

Cam Neely had a short career too but deserves to be in...

No on karlsson he was on his way but he’s going down hill FAST and no one will remember The Ottawa years they will only remember his pathetic San Jose overpaid

Burns it close but no and I love him as a player

No on pavalski but again he’s a great guy and player

No on perry good player not quite enough to HOF

Kov’s is a no but only cause of his KHL years robbing him of the stats He needs

Hossa isn’t quite a HOF
The rest are on there way or already there

And anyone who says no on Marleau is crazy
He will end his career
#1 all time games plays
Top 40 all time points
Top 20 all time goals
Goal metal Olympian
Stand up guy
Ironman who played over 800 games straight into his 40’s
Class act!!!
If he ever had his name on the cup this would be a for sure.

I've said No to Marleau on two other boards today - not enough NHL hardware success for my liking. But yeah he might get in ala Mike Gartner - wait and wait and wait...

Why? Had he played his career for a Canadian team he might already be in the HOF lol
He has never been a great player I know but he’s been a top line guy and a great team guy 18 of his 20+ years.

He’s the kind of guy every team hopes for when they draft in the first round. Solid 2 way hockey player who sacrificed points for wins and dollars for the team (always took less to stay with the sharks until his last contract.)

Yes I am a sharks fan who watched this guy for 20 years and I always felt like he was the most underrated guy in the nhl.

Hey I did not say I did not like him. I just don't think he's a lock.
I did an edit above so you may have missed it (here it is in italics) - not enough NHL hardware success for my liking. But yeah he might get in ala Mike Gartner - wait and wait and wait...

Paddy and Joe have had mirrored careers and Joe has so many more "accolades" (shiny trophy bits), and I think IMO that's where to draw the line...
Joe IN

Wendel Clark goes to the Hall......if he had lead the Leafs to the Cup Finals in 1993 and went with the Nords to Colorado to win the Cup or gets traded to the Wings one season earlier to be a part of their back to back Cup victory. If Clark had 3 Cups I'd vote him to the Hall....whoever the captain of the Leafs is when they ever win a Cup, will a first ballot entry for sure.

Wendel goes to the rafters, not the Hall.

How about Willie Marshall, Fred Glover and Jody Gage ? All played over 1'000 games in the Ahl and recorded over 1'000 points.
Imagine holding onto your hockey dreams for almost 20 years while never making the NHL.
Hall of Fame material for sure.

I'm just curious, and please, anyone feel free to enlighten me...but please convince me that Staal belongs on the HoF list. I can side with just about everyone's arguments on this solid post, but I'm just not seeing Staal and a Hofer. Please assist.

I didn't think so initially. But after looking at a few of these HOF boards today I'd say...
He's IN!
* The facts show a really solid NHL/INT success = WC Gold, OLY Gold, SCup & a TRIPLE GOLD CLUB GUY!

He certainly has the hardware. I just feel about him like you feel about Marleau in the other post you linked. Hall of Very Good but not Hall of Fame. Even though I'm a St. Louisan, I think Pietrangelo also falls into the Hall of Very Good. Now, if the season returns, and he captains back-to back Cup teams (and perhaps even wins a second one), then he's a lock IMO.

Yeah certainly a good debate to be had.
I think I've been too liberal and handed out HOF rings like candy ha ha.
Marleau to me needs more "bling" in the NHL - a Cup or a Selke being his most likely target trophies.
* The "Triple G Club" has to sway it say for Staal BUT then there's Jay-Bo who is a "Triple G Member" and is he a HOF? I think most would say nope?

I think JBo falls into the Hall of Very Good too. His iron man record might sneak him in though.
