Allen is an expensive backup in Montreal and gives the Habs nearly $15 million between Allen and Price. Don't see Marc Bergevin doing that.

Dunn have seen is ice time drop considerably since Berube took over the coaching job. With Scandela extension and Perunovich entry level deal, Dunn could easily become a moveable assets to free up money. In the same way the Hawks would trade a young Nick Leddy back then. This is more then probable, if the blue want to retain their captain.
He would also be a candidate for offer sheet and with no marge under the cap the Blues can’t probably match anything over 4 millions maybe 3,5. So again this is a real possibility.

Montreal have around 20 millions in money under the cap. Allen is a expensive backup but he would be very helpful for at least one year, giving time for Primeau to play in Ahl. Dunn is a nice pickup, would help them on the left side. Steen could be bought out or at least get a chance at training camp. Would be a cap dump due to is salary and production level but the Habs received Dunn who have a bright futur.

True it's only one year of Allen, Dunn would be a sweet piece and Steen days are pretty much numbered. He's probably heading towards retirement here shortly.

Yeah Steen might very well take is last pay check next season and retired after. Maybe he can use the current situation to get fully healthy and had one last decent season! Montreal could retain salary at the deadline and trade him for mid round pick. But he is likely heading to laval if he can keep the pace.

No disrespect, but trading Dunn would be stupid af. Guy has destroyed every matchup he’s gotten the last two seasons and will likely be pretty cheap to keep around for the next two seasons. Might get hate for this, but I’d way rather have 23 year old Dunn making 2.8 million, than 30 year old Pietrangelo making 9. Of course, I’d rather have both than Justin Faulk.

But it’s possibly the way that Armstrong want to go. I don’t think he can afford to lose Pietrangelo with the team he have right now. The Blues can be a cup contender for the next 4-5 years. They have a good mix of veteran and young players. Guy like Pietrangelo, Faulk, Scheen, Tarasenko, Perron, Schwartz and O’reilly are in their prime year. Loosing a defenseman like Pietrangelo (who by the way could easily won the conn smythe) would be very bad for them short term.
I see you’re point with Dunn but the cup window is now can’t see any scenario that Armstrong doesn’t resign Pietrangelo.

Sundqvist is a guy who's more valuable to the Blues than what other teams would realistically give up, similar to Barbashev because they play a similar game. A Rangers fan keeps offering a late 1st and STL probably does that in real life, but unless he'd be packaged with someone to upgrade. From Toronto, Kapanen is kind of a similar player but after watching how much better a team we were with Sunny vs without him in the playoffs, I wouldn't trade Sundqvist straight up for Kapanen.

i was just gonna give a better center for him (kerfoot for him) and a 3rd round pick. then when the blues move bozak or whatever they got a young 3c who can get be a real asset on the team as kerfoot has been impressing people so far despite only being 3 years in the league.

I agree with you and i would say that he is possibly the best or in the top 3 4th line centerman in the league. Berube can play him on the road against any opponent. For a team like St.Louis who are in Cup contention a guy’s like him hold tremendous value. He reminded me as Stephane Yelle with Colorado Avalanche in the late 90’s earlys 00’s. Having depth at center position is a must for a cup run.

with the blues needing to make room for pitrangelo bozak, allen, and others are probably gone, kerfoot being cheap can squeeze right in and fit in any role given. he can take 3c from thomas or be on any lines lw. with kerfoot coming in sunqvist can be moved as the blues will get a center who can play lw with o'rielly if needed. Plus kerfoot is a steal for most teams as once his bonus is paid his contract is light

Kerfoot can’t play the game of Sundqvist! Kerfoot have been use in a offensive role for most of is time in Colorado and saw is production drop drastically in a lesser role in Toronto. In no case he would be better at 4th line duty then Sundqvist is.

the only reason his production droped is he was getting used to a new team. when u adjust to new line mates ur points either rise or fall. given this year was an adjustment period kerfoot should do much better next year. Also kerfoot can be offensive and defensive. Toronto has used him on the pk a few times this year and he has been fine.

Sundqvist is only a year older and I'm not convinced Kerfoot is better. Kerfoot is definitely more skilled but we don't need another center and Sundqvist's ability to play RW/great penalty kill/forecheck is what makes him so valuable to the Blues.

Your argument about adjusting to a new team is completely ridicule. Tomas Tatar have seem is production rise with is new team, same for Scheen in St-Louis. A guy’s like J.T. Miller have exceeded expectations, Burakowsky in Colorado there plenty of examples of player having instant success with a new team. The main reason Kerfoot production drop is that he doesn’t seem much Powerplay time. He had 17 and 16 Powerplay point in is first 2 season in Colorado. Is 5 on 5 production always been very average. Kerfoot is a nice depth players but he isnt anything special and clearly not a better option at 4th line duty’s then Sundqvist. Sundqvist is big, strong, defend very well, can play Pk and is very effective at 5 vs 5 exactly what a 4th line center need to be.
