Some innovative ideas here. I particularly like the retention on Rakell.
Some thoughts as I looked at this:
- Removing all of Calvert, Nichuskin, Donskoi, and Zadorov removes a lot of sandpaper and defensive skill. Those 3 forwards are excellent defensively, and as skilful as your new forward group is there's a definite softness to it compared to the current roster.
- Why only sign Graves to a 1 year deal? And 4 years for Connauton?
- Landeskog $9m seems at least $1m too high.
- Montreal would definitely say no to that package for Domi. He's a player who actually likes Montreal so they will want to keep him long-term.
- Two 2nd round picks for someone to play on the 3rd pairing seems high.
- Selling Donskoi for a 3rd seems low.
- I'm not sure anyone would pay a 3rd for Kamenev at this stage. He's made of glass and has proved nothing.
What would be your plan for when Kadri, Rakell, and Francouz hit UFA in 2022, at the same time that Byram, Graves, Bowers, and Kaut are RFA's?
