Description
I'm not a fan of the Jets spending big money on a LDH in the offseason. I believe that at least 2 of Niku, Heinola, Samberg, Stanley, Dahlstrom and Chisholm will quickly develop into viable options behind Morrissey. I like the idea of trying Haula between Laine and Ehlers. If if doesn't work out, the lines could always revert to:

Connor-Scheifele-Laine
Ehlers-Wheeler-Little
Copp-Haula-Roslovic
Harkins-Lowry-Appleton

Stanley, top6 and Dahlstrom is nothing more than a depth D. The others have the potential.

Montreal isn't taking a bad contract for free

Wouldn’t really call 1 year of a player that can play up and down in their lineup is really a bad contract..

When you can spend that on free agency no way Montreal does this. This is like New York rangers offering you marc staal for a fourth
Also they don't need more 3rd/4th liners

No at all mp can still play the game maybe not worth a 4th but do not need to pay to move him and I’m sure that deal would be for any team not just mtl.. and Staal is making more money then mp and can hardly play anymore...?

I think that leftside needs an upgrade. Beaulieu is a decent depth option, Niku is trade bait IMO and Samberg still needs to show he's ready for the NHL.
Ken Wiebe suggested the jets go after Brendan Dillon to play with Pionk. At first I wasn't sure, but adding a physical stay at home vet makes sense...at the right price

My concern is that the Jets spend cap on a guy like Dillon then stunt the growth opportunities for Heinola, Samberg, Chisholm and (if not tradebait) Niku.

If no team will take him for a pick or a prospect, the Jets could always cut him loose. With the cap space I'm projecting, they are only a half million away from affording him anyway.
