I dont think the Stanley Cup should be awarded in this format, but more importantly they should not be returning till things vastly improve.

At best case, do some sort of tournament instead.

I agree it should be a tournament and the main sticking point for me is going to 24 teams basically handing out participation awards and what happens if a team that wasn't supposed to make the playoffs ends up winning the cup?... It can end up being a pr nightmare. It makes no sense to me.

I hate it. Should have stuck to 16 teams and if the number of games is an issue then reduce the first round to best of 5.

In this scenario the NHL presented, Pittsburgh plays Montreal and my understanding of things is that if Montreal eliminates Pittsburgh, then Pittsburgh gets to be in the draft lottery.

So stupid.
