That's not even close to barkovs value. I only see him getting moved if Bob is going the other way in the trade. All the other teams reject

I don't think it's completely accurate, but i wouldn't say "not even close," considering they get back an immediate replacement to plug in the lineup, a top prospect (yotes were calling jenik untradeable earlier), and a first, not to mention some solid NHL depth pieces. If they were to move him, they could do better, but I think they could do a lot worse as well. Should probably also mention my description is largely sarcastic

Any Barkov trade to Arizona starts with OEL going back to Florida.

Taylor hall was a rental. Taylor hall is a fraction of the player “barkov,” is.

No, it’s not even close.

Taylor Hall was a rental and clearly not re-signing in New Jersey. Barkov is signed to two more years at an insanely team-friendly contract.

If it were 2 years from now, and Barkov made it clear that he had no interest in re-signing in Florida, then I would say Arizona could get him for what they paid for Hall. Since it's not and he didn't, it's going to cost significantly more.

first of all, it's "borkov"

second, i'm not saying the comparison is exact. i will admit i thought barkov was up in 2021 rather than 2022, which makes a big difference, BUT, many people seem to forget how underwhelming these big trade returns are at first glance. as a coyotes fan, I wouldn't look at this trade and think they absolutely STOLE barkov from FLA--in fact I could see it coming back to bite the yotes in the ass, especially if jenik pans out as he's supposedly going to. but hey, ya know what they say about opinions

let me propose this-jenik is replaced in the trade by barrett hayton. does that move the needle any more in your opinion? what if it's stepan who gets replaced? or chaput? if you took the trade i proposed and replaced chaput with hayton, i don't possibly see how that's not an overwhelming return for florida. I dont think they could turn that down. i'd genuinely like to know your thoughts.

p.s. appreciate the love for brandon carlo. he is a hell of a defenseman

do you not think what I offered is significantly more than what they paid for hall? the pick is the same, the prospect return is equal-to-superior, and then a couple vets in stepan and oesterle who you can plug right in immediately-which was not the case in the hall trade. please read what i wrote to Bcarlo25 above if you would and let me know your thoughts on that as well

I did read it. I don't think you realize how elite of a player Barkov is. Florida isn't going to give him away. Trading for him is going to cost quality roster players and several A/A+ prospects. Replacing Janik for Hayton is a good start, but still not enough. Also replace Chaput for Soderstrom and you're closer. Then upgrade Stepan to Keller or Schmalz and still throw in the 2022 1st. Now you're in the realm of what it's going to cost to acquire Barkov.

Barkov is one of the best two-way centers, if not all around centers in the game right now. He is equivalent to Jonathan Toews or Anze Kopitar 10 years ago and will be a perennial Selke candidate over the next decade. Additionally, he's signed to an insanely team-friendly deal right now and could probably get twice as much if he were a free agent this summer. Granted the deal you offered is more, but not "significantly more" than what the Devils got for Hall, but like I and others have said, Hall is several years older and not as valuable of a player as Barkov.

Wait until 2022 when Barkov is a rental and your current offer might fly (with the 1st conditional on him re-signing), but unless you want to empty out the farm system, the only way you're going to get him back for any kind of reasonable return is if OEL is heading back to Florida.

He's right. Florida isn't taking aging $ and mediocre pieces back unless maybe they're losing a ton of $ in Bob. The move is basically 1 worthwhile piece and a 1st. Pass.

Taylor Hall was a rental, Barkov isn't and that trash doesn't get him.
