Trades
1.
BUF
  1. Bjugstad, Nick
  2. 2020 5th round pick (PIT)
  3. 2021 1st round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Bjugstad can fill a need at center and on right wing for the Sabres in the middle six
PIT
  1. Ristolainen, Rasmus ($2,700,000 retained)
  2. 2020 7th round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Pittsburgh will be pressed for a right handed defenseman in 2021 and they could be up against the cap in 2021 if the cap remains flat. If there is a compliance buyout, they could get relief by buying out Jack Johnson.

Ristolainen at half the salary
2.
BUF
  1. Smith, Zack
  2. Strome, Dylan [RFA Rights]
  3. 2020 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Chicago could find themselves in a cap crunch next summer, unless a compliance buyout comes in and if so, then Brent Seabrook would be the obvious candidate.

However, aside from Kirby Dach being on the roster, that would be the only other interest for moving Strome. Signing him long term, and fitting him into the long term picture may be difficult.

Throwing in Zach Smith into the deal will save Chicago additional space and could help Buffalo's penalty kill.

Chicago gets enormus cap relief
CHI
  1. Mittelstadt, Casey
  2. 2021 1st round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Mittelstadt could use a change of scenery and Chicago could be a good place for him to regain his footing as he would likely not need to be rushed to the NHL.

PIT doesn't need RD, they have Letang and Marino, just need a button pairing guy, it's not worth paying a first for that, even with retention

That's a bad return for Risto. A injury plagued player well past his prime and a 25-31 1st round pick. If we trade him, it would be to fill a hole in the top 6

Chicago declines. Take out the 2nd...maybe. If Smith will waive. Buffalo should say no to the Minnesota deal. Pitt deal is interesting but I'd rather send him elsewhere for less than retain that much for that long.
