He's 30 years old and on a long term contract worth big money for 5 more years. I think id rather take Dylan Strome considering Chicago's situation right now. Both players scored about 40 points last season, I'll take the young up and comer over the declining veteran every time.

Interesting move trading for Dylan Strome and not tendering him a contract.
Rooney and justaBoss liked this.

Cool, moving our captain for Strome and not even signing him. There's not even money left enough to actually do that.

This is a failure.

I'm a Stars fan. In a vacuum I'd always take Benn, but considering his contract and the trend of declining I'd probably accept trading him for Strome, but with no retention and possibly something added from CHI.

Player level is a clear downgrade, but the cap space it grants could be used further to make great moves.

This is brutal....

Shattenkirk no thanks
Chicago declines that before you finish proposing the deal, then you don't even sign the asset you get LOL
Hoffman would have been the better add this past off season instead of Pavelski
Toffoli is meh
Faksa deal is on point, Gurianov and Hintz will ask for more than that. Especially Gurianov for multiple years.

At this point, Strome is not a downgrade from Benn. Only difference is Benn has more versatility playing wing or center.

Yeah he is a downgrade. It's not hard to see how much the total change in Dallas have affected his play, but his abilites on ice are still close to the same that they were when he won Art Ross. He could easily be a 70+ point player in a little more offensive team. At least that's how I view it.

You're not wrong. I think this will all depend on what the coaching situation is. If Bowness is the head coach, I dont see how Pavs could be as effective as we thought. I have a hard time seeing him being the head coach going into next year. I would love them to move on Gallant right now.
