Bad trade for Dallas imo. Faksa alone should get that package. Thompson ain't that good really.

You're overvaluing Faksa. Faksa isn't worth a 1st round pick. Given where Buffalo will likely finish in the standings, he's fetching a top-10 2nd Round Pick here which is pretty comparable value for him. He's a great defensive center, but he doesn't have much offensive upside and his overall game took a step back this year. If you look at his advanced numbers (on a per game basis), his 2019-2020 numbers are worse across the board than his 2018-2019 numbers. A year ago, he may have gotten a pick + player/prospect, but after a slight slump of a season his value is going to drop a little bit.

Makes no difference to me. I can't see the wisdom in moving him now when he's value is a tad lower, with him being a pending RFA and after a slight slump of a season.

I'd ink him long-term rather than trade him. I can't think of a better bottom-6 player for us.

I’d rather pay Dickinson/Dellandrea significantly less than Faksa for the same role. There’s no point having Dickinson, Dellandrea, and Faksa on the NHL roster. All 3 play the same two-way style (all with varying offensive skill sets). Dellandrea is a part of this team’s future so he’s not going anywhere. Between Dickinson & Faksa, Faksa is going to cost more, play the same style, and is more valuable on the trade market.

I'm not sold on Dellandrea being a full-time asset for our team the next year. It doesn't follow the way DAL has dealt before with their juniors. Imo Dellandrea is going to play for the AHL team the first year, with possibly having the 9 game tryout period in the NHL. Which is why I'd hesitate in moving Faksa.

I can see both sides of the Faksa trade. For me, I look closely at Col, Nsh, Stl and they all have significant center depth. In my opinion, you can't lose a big mobile third line center with Faksa that allows Dicky to be the 4th line center. You need to structure your bottom 6 as two third lines and I think you do that with Faksa in the fold. I also am really torn on this Benn CBO. I think he still brings a lot to this team and honestly, that is a huge move for a franchise that I dont know the Stars want to do being this close to truly making some noise as a Cup contender.
